No need to find the support. It’s all around you if you just look. Titanforging has been a controversial topic in BFA. There are content creators, reddit posts and threads like this one that constantly mention how titanforging needs to either change or be removed all together.
I know right
Found my support!
That was fast
Removing titan forging is the best thing blizz can do to try and get WoW back to its glory days.
Won’t make the game great but it would be a great first step.
Also bring back reforging.
If by “happy to get it” you mean I enjoy the dopamine hit? Sure absolutely… So does everyone. If by am I happy that my entire gear progression for that slot just came to an abrupt halt unless I get even MORE lucky? No… No I’m not. Hence why players like me say: The WF/TF system feels unrewarding.
Would I be happy if a vendor magically appeared in SW/Org that sold 425 gear for every slot for 1 copper a piece? Sure. For the first hour or two, heck maybe even the first week it’d be fun to be super powerful. After that though… There’s no where to grow from that… Most RPG’s that I enjoy are about player growth… That’s what I enjoy… I don’t want a skip to the end, and I certainly don’t want that skip to the end to be down to dumb luck.
So again… if you’re wondering why people feel the game is empty from a gear progression stand point… It’s because you can get gear progression from literally standing still in regards to content progression…
They tried this with PvP btw… Using PvP templates… They completely removed gearing as an incentive. IIRC, could be wrong, but I don’t think it went over that well.
Long story short… This is an RPG, and most RPG utilize some level of character progression by tackling the content. Cloud doesn’t get super powerful by simply staying in the starting area of FFVII. You don’t unlock new Aeons in FFX by sitting in Besaid. That’s what WoW was built on for the vast majority of it’s life. It’s no wonder that large swathes of the player base dislike changing the game towards gearing becoming a meritless endeavour.
My hunter got a 420 socketed Mydas Talisman or whatever the doodoo trinket is from AD. Literally worse than like a 390 trinket.
But how much support is that really?
Keep in mind content creators still count as a single self vote. In some peoples opinions their voice might count for more, but it simply doesn’t. They are just another single subscriber and their words carry no more weight than you or I in terms of what is or isn’t good for the game in the eyes of Blizzard.
Then you add in however many tens of thousands of followers/posters combined they may have vs the millions of subscribers (most of which don’t even use the forums or places like reddit/twitter). Won’t even bother to cut out the overlap for the same people subscribed to some or all of them or those that continually post in each new thread about this and just add to that number.
Add in all the disgruntled raiders (which the normal/heroic ones deff have a leg to stand on in terms of their gear being overshadowed by quest rewards before end of patch) and the various others from whatever modes they play.
So why hasn’t Blizzard removed it yet if the majority of their players don’t like it? They’ve had over half a year to make that decision and should have plenty of data to support your claims.
Could it possibly be that the majority of the players either don’t care or even understand the high end raiding things like competing for raid spots or their own community driven competitive races. Keep in mind Blizzard didn’t make up those competitive issues… we the players did that and as such anything added to the game that might impact that is an issue of our own making.
I personally believe it’s the care/understanding one. I think lots of people truly believe that their side is the majority of whatever the current hot topic is. However, it’s usually just the opposite and the games massive super casual base just ends up playing whatever is there regardless of whatever our camps take issue with. The top 10 maybe 15 percent (being extremely generous here) of players issues usually have zero impact on that massive chunk below that are enjoying themselves to some extent.
Just like anything that comes into this game, people will find ways to be unhappy with it and there is no way to please everyone. So I assume they will continue to please whatever chunk pays the biggest part of the check.
It’s probably not mythic+/raiders if I had to make another guess.
There is a special place in you know where for that trinket and the mana return one from temple.
I’m curious of what you think if you had won 3 lottery tickets? If you’re that disgusted at getting very lucky, then you could just delete those 3 items too. I suspect that you won’t, because you actually want to keep them.
Half the raid trinkets are bad too. Same hunter has a 425 Yu’lon from JFM. I am just happy this character didn’t get any codex’s from Jaina.
I am very sorry for your loss.
I dont recognize the talisman, but Im sure its cause I dont pay attention to the ones I dont want.
Well it is an agi statstick with an on use that increases your next FIVE auto attacks damage by like 3500 or something at that high of IL. Idk I DE’d it instantly. 90 second cooldown btw. It is straight garbage.
Thats so sad. I managed to get really lucky this tier, but I know I was annoyed to see the TF tiny elemental in a jar or whatever it was.
I 100% agree with your statement that a content creator is just one vote. But I personally think about the “who” part of the discussion. It’s not the value of how many people this person in question counts for but what their background is as a player. If I were to come out and make a thread about how bad PvP gearing is, it’s not going to hold as much weight as when someone like this does it.
For those that don’t know that is Venruki. He’s one of the hosts for the arena tournaments that lead up to the Blizzcon Championships.
Am I saying that everyone needs to kneel down whenever someone like him says anything? No. But I think it’s important to listen to players who are well seasoned, very skilled or have played the game since Vanilla. Which I’m not stating anyone that didn’t has no opinion. But it’s important to step back, understand who is talking and then try and form an opinion based what was said.
I try to sit back and listen to what everyone has to say. And I can be snarky at times when posting on GD. But the #1 thing I always try to do is hit on topics and discussions with players that don’t quite agree with me. Not to be confrontational, but to try and understand where they’re coming from and why.
Now on to titanforging. The thing that was thrown out by…Taliesin I think? Was that in a discussion that they had with Blizzard was that they wanted to do away with titanforging but they have nothing they can think of to replace it with.
I don’t agree with titanforging because of all the layers of RNG there is to it. And that includes sockets and tertiary stats. I haven’t had a sense of excitement in gear progression for quite some time because I always knew that there was going to be a better version of what I could get if I got lucky with a titanforge. But back when I started in Wrath I was a complete noob. And when I got my hands on the bow from the 2nd boss I knew that it was going to be my weapon for quite some time and I felt happy about it.
It’s why I play games like Monster Hunter: World. I can go in and kill the monster. But the only RNG that comes from him is whether or not I get the pieces I’m looking for when carving up the corpse for materials. Same in WoW. I can go in and kill the boss multiple times. But the moment the item I’m looking for or had some form of anticipation for dropping well…drops, then my heart skips a beat. It’s the same when a rare mount drops.
I didn’t have to worry about silly things like all the possibilities of what can happen when forging is there. The mount dropped. There was no “is it the right color” or something silly like that. The only RNG involved was it dropping.
I also have a hard time with believing that there’s a majority that have been enjoying these systems in the game. Because, and I know this is going to sound like a lot of other people, Classic is coming out. And for them to pour as many resources into recreating old content along side with the 800 employees getting let go, I have to wonder if things have been okay. But if they aren’t they’re not going to tell us.
All I have is speculation at the end of the day. Which I have to draw on multiple sources like players, interviews, content creators, streamers, top players, casuals, forums, Reddit ect. ect.
In my personal opinion, I think they’re just running low on ideas or they’re being choked out by the top guys who expect them to meet certain metrics instead of trying to focus on making fun and engaging content while keeping player interest high.
amen brother
preach
This is ultimately their biggest issue. There was a time when the suits didn’t hammer down on the devs so much. But now that’s the norm for most gaming companies who sold their soul for more income.
This. Absolutely this.
I have benefited many times from TF. Doesn’t mean I think the system is great. The WF was a fun little perk, going into TF is just frustrating.
Something I’m recognizing with a lot of companies is that they’re making remasters for older games since their current ones aren’t doing too hot. I think it’s important that games like Fallout 76, Anthem, Apex and even CoD fall into obscurity. Gotta stop preordering games that have the mentality of “put it out now, we’ll fix it later”.
But my hope is in Classic doing well. I don’t want to see an OSRS situation happen but if that’s what it takes to get the game on track for a player like me, then I’m happy with it.
I disagree.
Getting a bunch of guaranteed valor points was never very exciting. That’s like the azerite point system in Retail today that allows you to buy 415 azerite gear… BORING!
However, having a small chance to get a gigantic titanforge is exciting.
