I feel like Blizzard should’ve redone the in game cinematics for cutscenes like the Wrathgate, and Arthas’ defeat.
I don’t even want in game texture improvements, but these cutscenes are so clunky and hard to watch. Would it have really been that much money to redo them like they did with Diablo 2 resurrected?
Considering that they’re still the same cutscenes from the original run of wrath, no, but more people would have cried about it if they had updated them.
An in game cinematic is quite expensive to make. As they get better people also get angry when they don’t spend the 15k a second for film quality final vfx.
If it’s anything less than that people complain it was “half assed”.
You also have to look at contracts too.
Writers, dops, directors can all sign contracts saying if there work is altered and used in a new game they have to be paid again.
You actually see this in movies and tv shows a lot more than you’d think. They will re write and re shoot flashbacks just to get out of paying people again. All depends on what the producer deems has the best value.
