I get maintaining the classic feel, but give Prot Paladins a Taunt

Perfect. I like what you did there.

Bland? Compared to faceroll classic?

Shaman tanks do generate very good threat. Their main problem is their damage mitigation. The Invulnerable Mail is likely made for shaman tanks. Gives a chance when hit to proc invulnerability making them immune to physical attacks.

Well…I was comparing it to tanking in vanilla. Imagine the implications of what you’re saying here, though.

Isn’t the shortage of tanks for dungeons not raids, so why would raids need pally tanks when they already have an abundance of warriors.

Yeah that Vanilla is ultra easy. TBC was much better for Paladins.

No they’re not. Shaman tanking has a lot more nuances and requires a patient group to complete end game dungeons. Far more patience than paladin tanking.

Did they? I know a lot of people hate on Cata, but I really enjoyed it early on (of course, I had decided to level my druid first.

It was a long enough time ago that I don’t really remember what may have been broken about warriors at the time.

Warrior threat was an absolute joke. I came out of wotlk riding high and suddenly i couldn’t hold threat on anything but a single target exhausting everything i had in a 5 man

Shaman tanking is possible outside of raids and I respect those that do it. I didn’t say it’s not an option, i was saying i don’t want additional class rebalancing. I was mostly laughing at the paladin mentality that they need buffs so that they can do everything in the game as well as any other class.

I’m aware that it’s not an opinion that can accurately be put into a percentage. Therefore I will not pretend to speak for the masses and only stress that this is my opinion. I’m just tired of individuals not happy that the class they chose can’t be the best at everything.

A dime a dozen mage talking…let us know when you make a connection.

Like I respond to many of these:
Isn’t in classic.

You get a big thumbs up from me.

Holy spec is OP just play that and stop trying to be something you’re not.

If paladins get a taunt, give shaman one as well. Call it Wind Shock and make it take the same cooldown as all other shocks. As to a shaman viability as a tank, its not any worse than a paladin. One of the best tanks I’ve seen in SM Cath was a shaman. I think that run took a little less than 30 minutes.

As for those people who say the shaman tank would take a patient group… those DPS who’ve been waiting for a minute to get a tank to do something will be pretty patient to have yet another tank available.

… um…

then… HEAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL…

just a suggestion

Paladin’s can tank just fine in dungeons without a taunt, it takes a heck of lot more work to get the gear to do it and it has limited viability in raiding but it’s possible.

Taunt really only solves a short term aggro problem for Paladins in 5 mans, and does zilch for them in raids really outside of a boss or two that is designed for taunt swapping.

Paladin’s bigger issues is being able to sustain their output over the course of a fight and the fact they lack the CD’s to compete with Warriors. Shield Wall and Last Stand are a considerable advantage, not to mention the ability to control mitigation with Shield Block.

I tanked as Paladin in Vanilla, even a few raid bosses, but it’s not something I would do outside of a guild group, and frankly unless I knew the player probably not something I would be thrilled with healing in Classic. Druids I can deal with a bit more if they are played well.

Why would they be necessary when the Horde doesn’t have access to paladins? That would create some issues.
