I get maintaining the classic feel, but give Prot Paladins a Taunt

We get it. You know that paladins can’t tank, you know that top players don’t let paladins tank, and you are perfectly willing to spread that information throughout the forums regardless of what people are doing in the game.

The question is how long you want to repeat yourself in the thread after you’ve made all these points clear.

Me? The only paladin tank in the thread? Yeah, strange how that works…

No!

I dunno, how long are you going to keep claiming a lie?

You’re the one who is complaining about Paladins not being able to tank lol

I think you confused me with someone else. I said paladins are the best tanks for most of the content.

No, he’s claiming they’re better tanks than warriors or druids.

Ok, i might have gotten names confused, but one thing is true… Paladins are the absolute worst of the 3 tanking classes, and it’s a gigantic margin between 2 and 3

Yes i do play classic, and played Vanilla since '05, I leave my avatar as a the 68 gnome i leveld in 10 days of casual play while waiting for classic to release to show my disgust for refail.

You did touch on one of the aspects I alluded to with pally’s being a less than favorable option in Classic though, the threat management. Pally tanks can’t keep up with a warrior on a single target ( bosses ) for threat generation, which extends the time required to drop bosses because everyone else has to hold back more than they would with a warrior or druid tank.

As i said earlier, a taunt isn’t going to fix the underlying issues that make pally tanks less attractive for raiding. And again, no one wants to wait for 30 seconds while you drink between each pull, same as no one wants to wait 30 seconds into combat before they can open up and kill a boss without a simple crit pulling agro.

I wrote earlier that the single greatest concern with paladins tanking are players who don’t play paladins deciding what they can or can not do.

I’m not convinced that a warrior playing on a faction that doesn’t even have paladins is a good example of the counter-point to that claim.

I don’t feel convinced that a retail player is going to change my mind, either.

So how do you solve lack of threat, mana issues, and crushing blows?

I’ll tell you what. I’ll roll a warrior on your server and we can have a tank off. I played BOTH factions during vanilla as my guild back then was active on both sides. I was a warrior tank on each side and no Paladin could ever out tank me.

What does it matter to you?

You already decided early in the thread that I couldn’t possibly know what you and “top players” know and have knowns for “years and years.”

I already pointed out that you should just continue playing how you want to play and others will continue playing how they choose to play.

Would of been interesting if they made Seal of Justice have a chance to taunt the target or something or maybe add an item in Classic+ that gives Paladins a chance to taunt with a spell. Seal of Justice does prevent them from running away but not taunt them. To be honest I don’t think a taunt similar to Warrior would be ideal because lore wise paladins are more gentlemanly than to taunt someone.

I’m on Grobbulus if you’d like to roll alliance.

I also played all the way from 'nilla but you do sound like a great tank. No shame in that and I wasn’t insulting you…but it also sounds like you were a warrior back in 'nilla so my earlier assessment that your opinion of my capabilities should probably take a back seat to my personal experience still applies.

It’d be nice if there were more people able to play the way they want without hindering 39 other people.

I don’t claim to be a top player anymore, I’m way too casual for that. But there’s just no way to make it work without hindering a raid.

My point is that I don’t believe you when you say you raid tank without causing problems for your raid, and I certainly laugh at the idea Paladins are the best tanks.

When did I say this?

A chance to taunt would be hilarious if some random paladin forgot to change their seal

So are you saying you don’t raid tank? Like… at all? You just tank dungeons for your guild? And you think you have any say in what is the best tank?

Okay then.

I think it’s safe to say that you will argue with anything I say…in fact, even things I don’t say.

My whole conversation with you was assuming you tanked raids, and my discussion was about raids in general. So knowing now you don’t actually raid tank (or you wouldn’t have a problem with me claiming you do), there’s no reason to argue if paladins can tank dungeons because they obviously can.
