8 wipes in and I look over at a 2k IO frost mage only to see they have sun optimal talents and are not wearing a legendary… in a +14 key
The hunter is yelling for me to hero mid boss fight while not realizing we all still have the debuff.
Mistweaver healer is running OUT of the beams on ritual of woe
Tank insisted on pulling 1 pack at a time the entire dungeon so timer wasn’t happening.
The mage “disconnected” after like the 7th or 8th wipe… and I just lost all my will to keep trying.
I thought a group with a bear tank and 2 frost mages would absolutely decimate the trash and be able to do big pulls to help the key go quick, but I was not correct in my assumption
I understand why people get so frustrated they leave keys.
Once you’ve reached a point where the key is dead and you’re on wipe number 8…. I just… what do you do? Even if I played absolutely flawlessly I can’t carry a group
And how does someone even get to 2k IO without a legendary?
thats exactly why i never pug. my friends / guild ended mid>late wod due to rl reasons and because i too had a busy schedule i could not dedicate my constant time to people in game so i made my own guild and started solo playing with my wife. and while im gold capped on 6 accounts i could never lower myself down to pay for carries. i could not live with myself if i did.
maybe one day i will win the lottery then i can stay home and dedicate all my time to a guild again. /fingerscrossed
But welcome to pug land, the reason why some pug we took decided to message me on discord calling me fat and to be careful I don’t have a heart attack after we kicked him from our raid run, because some pugs are really, really, REALLY bad.
Best I had was in BFA where a 475 iLVL (can’t remember their IO) mage with full mastery corrupted gear was hitting 15K DPS. That guy didn’t pay for carries, he brought his entire account, he had to have, he was that bad and didn’t even know the boss mechanics towards the end of 8.3.
There is no real wrong talents, but that is assuming you have a high enough iLVL and skill compared to what key you are doing. Some people with the better talents, a high iLVL, the correct stats and a high IO will still play bad because their skill isn’t there.
This is why RIO is still important. If you see someone with no timed keys or like exactly 8 keys timed from 15-19 with nothing else timed, you should be suspicious of them.
Yeah, you could get a 2k IO with 226 gear. I could see someone with an ilvl of 240 or something from combination of Korthia + welfare boxes being able to do enough to carry their own weight.
Still, someone like that you would at least expect to buy a rank 1 or rank 2 leggo (whichever is cheaper), so it was likely some kind of carry type situation.
What I have learned from pugging is NEVER and I mean NEVER expect a frost mage to do anything. The vast majority of frost mage players are trash and are only playing it because of meta.
…it’s almost like there’s a reason people leave in the first place (aka bad players like the OP described), why not “punish” that instead of the leaver? GD logic makes no sense sometimes
watch out, people are going to find this thread and come call you a toxic elitist for not honoring your sacred commitment to get these clueless players the gear they so richly deserve
true of every meta spec. i’ve seen 240 necro wws doing 3k overall. in s1 i stopped inviting boomkins because i got sick of seeing 215+ geared boomies doing 1.5k overall.
the forums contribute to this. all the hyperbole about “just press convoke and you win” is taken literally and people don’t bother actually learning to play the specs.
There are some people who do tank people’s keys for the laughs but I think that is a pretty small number of leaves. Some people plan their time poorly and after trying to put together a group for half an hour don’t have time to finish the dungeon but don’t realize that before it starts. I imagine this happens more than the first but still not a huge amount. A good number of leaves are almost certainly from people realizing the key is a disaster.
“Casual” Andies are the weirdest people. Self-absorbed and entitled, but act like a perpetual victim if they can’t bully their way into getting what they want.
They’re pretty much the worst type of people - I consider the core defining trait that elevates humans above animals to be the ability to actually put oneself in the frame of mind of another and consider the impact of one’s actions on others. Our ape siblings can use crude tools and communicate to one another, that isn’t enough to separate ourselves from them, no, it is our “humanity” that makes us human, and rejecting that is a rejection of one’s entitlement to be treated like a person.
If someone playing the game doesn’t want to play with you… maybe it is because they don’t have fun playing with you? Nah, threaten to beat them with a stick if they don’t carry you, that will make the game better for everyone. Lol.
Yeah, you can usually tell before the first boss what kind of key this you got yourself into with a PUG. A- easy life, this group could probably do keys 3 levels higher than this timed if they wanted to. B- decent chance at timing, almost certainly will at least finish C- the lord hath forsaken this key
