gratz caffeine is an addictive drug you have bad withdrawals if you try and quit cold turkey major caffeine headaches.i used to be a 4 12 pack a week soda drinker i gradually cut back to 2 2liters a week one cup in the morning and one mid day after about 2pm i dont drink any more caffeine at all.
id quit soda completely but i cant stand coffee so ill settle for 2 2liters a week.
yeah i’m trying to quit too, i’m down to just drinking one or two cans on the weekends and one when i get pizza for dinner (i have to have pop with pizza, it’s a thing). i have cut out the ones with caffeine so i feel better about that at least lol
Diet sodas just taste worse. And if I were actually on a diet, I’d just skip soda entirely. So I just drink regular soda when I do (which is less than once a week.)
i’ve never been able to get into tea, it always tasted like a watered down version of fruit juice or something. i’m sure in order to get it tasting good for me i’d have to pour a bunch of sugar in, which defeats the purpose
I have been cigarette free for 6 months and counting… (rapidly knocks on wood)… I’ve smoked a pack a day since I was about 18, and started at around 12… So roughly 44 years. I don’t even want to think about how much money I spent on them.
im trying to quit smoking but it’s going to be a long journey. for past few months i tried to switch to vaping instead of cigs as that is what helped me before but it’s only been a few months and like before once in a while i still crave a cig and buy a pack maybe once every week or every 2 weeks. the pack lasts me about a week as i smoke maybe 2 cigs a day now instead of like 2 packs.
i feel like it’s just constant stress/anxiety from work and having financial issues. the financial issues i mean i can get out of i’ve been here before done that but rn it’s just a bunch of stuff i have to spend money on like my sisters wedding out of state, gf’s bday coming up next week, etc… she knows im not trying to spend money and is understandable about that. doesn’t help that i have to pay for parking at work which is about $45 every week got to sign up for monthly parking though but don’t have the money for that.
once i get my first check next week friday it will be less stressful but for now it’s kind of difficult.
If you can afford it get your doctor to prescribe Chantix. I tried the vaping, it made me smoke more… I’ve tried patches, gum… The gum just burned my mouth. I even tried hypnosis, it didn’t work on me. Chantix did, but it is pricey… I pay around $225.00 per month for 60 pills (I take 2 - 1mg a day), but it is still cheaper than smoking. I’ll start a maintenance dosage soon and then eventually wean off of even that.
With the Chantix I don’t have much for cravings and I was able to just throw the smokes away. Very rarely I get a “OMG SMOKE”, but I am able to work through it and fight it off.
May sound odd, but when I quit smoking(former 1 1/2 packs a day), it wasn’t the physical addiction that was bad, it was the psychological addiction that was bad.
I used patches and stepped down but I, seriously, cut a drinking straw to the length of a Cig and had it in my fingers as I drove(to mimic what I was normally doing while driving) and would even suck through it at times…it worked. Been addiction free for years now
Good for you!! That’s awesome. My bad habit was being too stagnant, too sedentary. I mean, I would go to the gym 4 times a week but when the rest of your day is spent sitting for 12 hours only to get up to use the restroom or get food, it feels pretty sedentary.
Yes but let’s not tell him he isn’t doing enough. Oftentimes for people, cutting out soda is a HUGE deal and a first step to a very slow and steady journey.
I did the same thing a few years ago. It was, amongst other things, something i did to improve my life.
I had mainly done it to lose weight but to my surprise the chronic headaches that i had since childhood almost entirely disappeared. I used to have headaches almost every day since my childhood, once i quit i had headaches maybe once per month!
