So, when dynamic “Dragonriding” was released I loved it. It was fast, it felt like you were actually flying on a beast. Still in terms of precision it wasn’t that great. Now that I have Static flight again I’m finding it’s much easier to collect nodes with it then overshooting with Dragon riding.

I use old flying most of the time, DR is just for getting from zone to zone super quick.

I was pretty much in the “Dynamic Flying can stay and be the only flying” crowd. But now, having the ability to hop on both a dragonriding mount and static flight mount for different jobs. It’s nice.

Well yeah, dynamic flying is best for speed and long trips, normal is best for precision and short hops. Flying across the world or even just a zone? Go dynamic. Doing little short hops to nodes that are practically next to each other? Normal is the way.
You guys do realise it’s not one way or the other, right? You don’t need to just use one type and not the other.

I mean, during the arguments it always seemed like it was either one way or the other. Neither should co-exist.
That’s certainly true. I was always in the enable both camp. Forcing people to unlock normal flying when we had what many consider superior flying from day 1 felt rather silly, and who does it hurt to have both enabled?
Now I’m pushing for flight / dynamic flight enabled on all mounts, with a way to toggle them between normal and dynamic. Even hippos

I mean, FFXIV kind of explains it away in some mount descriptions as either innate magic or having a flying carpet strapped to them. I think the one about the flying T-Rex was rather amusing.

Yeah FF14 used to have the whole ground / flying mount thing too, but then they realised how crummy it felt to have your favourite mount be landlocked and decided to just give everything flying, logic be damned because it’s a world full of magic and technological marvels. And they don’t even have half as many mounts as WoW does!
And now WoW not only has landlocked mounts, but also dynamic flying vs regular flying…
Oh, and I love the terrifying sight of a Behemoth literally claw its way up into the air

stares at ~50 mounts in zereth mortis that are actually a half dozen and the rest all recolours
Same. DR is for long cross country rides and the DR world quests.
I am on a standard old school flying mount 95% of the time.
