I enjoy leveling lv 18 alts over raiding

The entire parse hysteria, bis hysteria, loot council drama for items, causing drama because I messed up one mechanic has really really put me off raiding.

Games are supposed to be fun. I want to have fun raiding. And tbc bosses are so easy you could do it with 20 rogues.

I’ve actually been actively seeking a boomkin to replace me In my raid group because the tryhard atmosphere is making me hate this game. I’m unmotivated and cant bring myself to care about raiding. I dont wanna leave them without a boomkin tho. I also don’t want to hate the game. So I level alts.

I always go back to the initial month of classic launch in 2019 as my absolute favorite experience in an mmo ever. Leveling was fun. Endgame was fun. It wasn’t try hard.

I’m not hating on min maxers here. If yo like it then that’s great. But it’s not what made this game great. The game was not like this in 2007. Nowhere near as try hard.

Find a new guild if you want a better raiding experience :grinning:

Ya I’ve noticed too many people try to treat guilds/raiding like a business and try to copy stuff like they’re top 20 regional guilds. Kind of why I’m just not PvEing at all and just focusing on arena/wpvp.

The world in general has been ruined by the internet / vast information which is why everyone in most video games aim for perfection…

I remember the original tbc when I was in 30 now so would’ve been in high school but the game was fun because in the twink brackets for example people would run just double fire enchants and not many people knew about the lucky fisherman hat for example

The information wasn’t there and the lack of information is what made the game fun

I dont see how your guild is giving you any issue. Your raid team seems to be all pretty equal.

Your FF uptime could be better along with your dots and always be casting.

I think the biggest issue is the content is so easy the only thing to do is to make it so you min/max to compete in the parse mini game. Which seems to be fun for a lot of people.

Join a non-elitist guild. I don’t use a damage meter. I don’t care where I place on it. I also only wear mail armor on my shaman and raid with resilience to boost my survival. Most of the items I seek aren’t on the silly “bis” lists because it’s leather leather leather leather, I had enough of that crap in classic.

“I hope you’re not passing over CVoS. It’s an absurd upgrade over the next best helm.”
-I’ll use my T6 helm. You can keep the leather.

“don’t think the upgrade from T6 to CVoS is that insane”
-People act as if we’re still in classic and leather has a monopoly on damage gear. In reality, mail and plate have plenty of options now. You don’t need the leather anymore.

im sure you can find a non sweat guild that clears the content while having fun. I enjoy trying for a parse though none of the extremes that most people did with engineer and chicken and all those other tactics but to each their own

leveling can be fun and rewarding as well me personally im waiting for the LFD tool that hopefully comes in pre-patch to finish leveling the rest of the chars i may want to play for wrath

best of luck either finding a non-sweat guild or just enjoy leveling toons

I raided TBC extensively back in the day, and ran many a battleground. I only had one toon… so it wasn’t too bad to manage. I still managed to rack up 100+ days played during those 2 years. Things were different. Classic is too sweaty.

I’m personally having fun leveling a couple alts and dinking around in battlegrounds. My work/life situations make it hard to commit to any group activities that last more than 30 min, so this has worked out nicely for me.

Between SoM and TBC, I’ve had plenty to do with the playtime I’m allotted. And I’m grateful for these experiences.

Have you noticed that players are also trying to treat battlegrounds like they’re PvE? :man_facepalming:

Its not the game’s fault for you raiding with annoying people. You said atleast 2 times you were quitting in P2. Now you are still here and blame everything but yourself.

Cool blog post.

There are guilds out there who do care with out going all full on try hard sweaty… So keep that in the back of your mind, but just remember that the biggest pain the rear are the morons who think that parsing is the only thing that matters; they neglect to realize that one thing you have remembered; games are suppose to be fun, not work.

Right there with you OP, I recently dropped out of the raid forces after realizing I wasn’t having much fun either. Raiding was a lot more fun back in the original release because the puzzle wasn’t solved and locked into one most efficient strat.

I think you should do what makes yourself happy. Don’t feel obligated to chain yourself to a raid group just so some sweatlords can have a perfect parse. I hope you find enjoyment with whatever you decide in classic tbc though.

With Classic I’ve taken the approach of do it if I like it, don’t if I don’t.

Leadership pseudo encouraged warlocks to get the JC spell crit neck to help with performance, but they’re 75g on the AH and I sure as hell don’t want to wear it, nor do I want others to wear it for me (if they do it’s of their own volition) so I just casually ignored the statement. Not like it matters, we do BT and Gruul in a night then Hyjal and some T5 the next. Plus honestly with how much crit we have I’m not so sure how big of a deal it would actually be.

But I flask, pot regularly, bring consumables, etc and it’s fun to try to beat my own parse high score. I just won’t do things I find unfun. Most people seem to be OK with that.

I’ve found that joining a guild that doesn’t share your basic gameplay values/disposition is a recipe for wanting to either quit, find a new guild, or just level alts & do pug dungeons. Don’t feel bad if you don’t fit into an authoritarian, anal-retentive guild of players who obsess to ridiculous degrees about parses, BiS, elitist loot distribution, OCD level group/raid composition, etc. Find a different guild. Games are supposed to be fun, so if you aren’t having fun then time to switch things up.

The first month of an expansion is always the best. Leveling, quests, new skills, new dungeons, exploration, being out in the game world. So much to do.

The irony is that everyone complains about it and tries to get it overwith as fast as possible. But this is when the game is the most fun, as evidenced by populations always peaking during this time. Because after it’s over, what’s left? Parking in a city by the mailbox and raid logging for months on end.

Don’t get me wrong, raiding is fun, too. But not as fun as pre-raid content.

Honestly, that is why I like this version of the game. And some who do not like it might look back at it once they are in wotlk, being “forced” to run the same raid up to 4 times a week on one single character, chasing epics for minor upgrades. Retail got worse with it by basically forcing you into nonsense no one wants to do but if you do not you are doomed. Being able to play what I want and log in and out mostly when I choose to… that is a plus to me.

Wow is a open world rpg, form a guild and find others like yourself and take time building it the way you want it to be run, otherwise your just another toon on the roster and it’s their way or the highway.

My last serious raid in Classic was when BWL launched. Haven’t been ablento commit since then. I don’t think it’d be much fun these days, anyway. I did kill Gruul once when the guild had an open slot. I’m sure I didn’t do well… But I’m happy I didn’t die! It had been since 2007 or so, and I recalled enough to survive.
