I don't understand how multiboxing is different that botting

interesting. not

Why would that be impossible? You could create a program that searches for a set of conditions and if those conditions are met it performs a specific action in response to an activation versus a different one in a different situation. If I recall correctly healbot was basically this back in the day and you basically just spammed one button and the addon did the rest of the work for you.

you could program it to respond to a hit of the space bar with say a tab target command in one situation and a walk forward in another situation.

Don’t be salty cuz you’re on the losing side of this argument.

yeah a program would not be impossible, this would be impossible:

what makes my argument the losing side?

Because it’d be detectable. If a program is that in depth and is actively reacting to changing situations in game, that’s botting. Period. It doesn’t matter if it’s a single key press over and over and you have a tool of some sort hitting that button. It’s automation, and that is botting. The software you created would be a bot.

The player was there hitting the button for Healbot/Decurse. And Blizzard broke it because they did not like that. Then later made smart heals but whatever.

Why not? What’s the difference between myself hitting the button and a little bouncing head hitting the button?

I appreciate your civil responses, I am enjoying the conversation.

you would be able to react to what was going on in the game whereas the boincing head would not be a reactionary system it would be an automatic system

So it’s not just 1 action = 1 outcome the. At that point is it? There is something more that separates botting from replication. It seems to be the involvement of a third party program interpreting actions and relating them outwards.

The fact that you’re wrong about literally everything you say and Blizzard disagrees with you.

what am i wrong about?

Everything, repeatedly.

your quest for the most distilled perfect definition for botting is kind of unnecessary, you can just take blizzards word for it that botting is one thing and multiboxing is another.

Would be able to react does not mean that I am required to react. I could not even have the monitor open and push the button at the same speed and frequency as an automaton. But that is not botting?

Just trying to understand your personal rules, it’s interesting to see how people view it differently.

I thought the point of forums was conversation. I am also allowed to have and discuss a different opinion from blizzard aren’t I?

can you be specific?

You. You are the difference there. You are the one making those decisions. Even if you are hitting the button, if it’s a program that is making the decisions for you, it’s automated. Not entirely botting, but not allowed either.

Uh, yeah. It’s automation. The only thing multiboxing programs do are clone keypresses. Everything else is the player.

i go by what blizzard sets the rules as its their game

TBH I can’t really be too bothered because of how dumb you are and how much of a waste of time it is trying to help you understand things. But you argued for hours that multiboxing was botting before you finally admitted you were wrong, only to spring up in another thread and start saying multiboxing was botting again.

You’re clearly just a troll or someone who resorts to antagonism when they’ve lost an argument.

yeah because i realized theres no use in trying to find a different definition for botting in a game where blizzard already defined it for us

So a multi boxing program is automating a process that an individual could not do on their own is that correct?

It is using a third party program to have other characters perform an activity that can be different based on what they are pre programmed to do.

So it can have one person heal based on the click, another charge, another dispel, etc. All from the same click. Is it botting when the program makes a decision on what to do based on that click?

It just strikes me as odd that the only difference is if I sit there hitting the single button versus programming my mouse to send the button input 40 times in a row instead of having a program repeat it 40 times to different clients.
