I don't think RDF is that bad anymore

Pretty sure that server is locked? In either case, I have family on a different server, which is also locked and I’m looking to join that. Sucks I can’t.

Oh well, all I can say is making money easy on the AH. One word: Professions.

Lack of RDF is and was the backbone of classic’s existence. The devs said no to classic, that it was pointless, and that lack of RDF was the main counterpoint towards classic’s existence. People disagreed, Classic was made; by saying it should be put back in, you are conceding to them that Classic was ultimately unnecessary, and that retail is and was superior, something I don’t agree with

If you really care about Classic, you’ll stop trying to make it exactly like retail, or like retail wotlk was, and simply enjoy Classic and Classic wotlk for what it is instead.

Why do people keep pretending RDF wasn’t a Wrath feature??

You can say that but be aware that it’s your subjective opinion. I don’t agree that lack of rdf was the backbone of classic existence. For me the dividing line between “classic” and retail happened when they made the talent changes with Cata. It went down hill from there.

Because it hardly was. It was added in at the very end of Wrath’s development and release cycle, and the period between that and Cata’s development and launch was the only time RDF was really a part of Classic. An argument can be made that it was more of a Cata feature since that’s where it got the most practical use, being used for things such as early game progression and leveling, and not endgame wrath content where it wouldn’t have even been very necessary even if it was a good feature

Either way saying it was in Wrath is not a good argument for saying it should be put in the beginning of wrath, as RDF coincided with the release of the last major PVE content releases, and not before

Hardly? It was in for half of Wrath. LFG was NEVER in Wrath. Neither were boosts or M+ Heroics.

You didn’t read the whole post, and I’d say that half reason that other stuff is getting added is because you have people asking for other stuff that’s in retail currently such as RDF.

It’s one patch, dude. No.

The game quality is not measured in dungeons per hour.

It literally never has. RDF doesn’t create tanks and healers.

No and no!

But more dungeons wouldn’t that be better for casuals and hardcore players alike? Don’t we want to fix the long dungeon queues inflicted on innocents?

Nope. RDF enables casuals to tour the content without actually engaging with the core of the game, which is the community.

Source: I played casual for years with RDF, never raided until Classic. I’d spam queue dungeons and bgs to max and then feel that the game was pretty much over, because I never got into any guild other than the kind that just collects as many players as possible.

That’s a valid take on things.

Let’s see any counter arguments:

Ouch…

This has literally been in just about every RDF thread, so you’re either lying or blind.

It doesn’t matter when it was added anyway.

It was nothing more than a bandaid fix for a problem Blizzard saw looming ahead at the time, and it was a terrible fix.

Now that there are so few servers and a LOT more players on each one, RDF isn’t needed to make groups. In fact, making groups the organic way is actually better for the concept of an RPG anyway.

This makes no sense. We’re asking for RDF in Wrath because it’s a Wrath feature. That other stuff is getting added because Blizzard is trying to make changes for the sake of making changes. Or maybe they’re trying to extend the life of Wrath while they figure out how to make Cata Classic a viable product. Either way, saying RDF is leading to the other stuff they’re adding is simply foolish.

Why do you think this is bad? Casual players are the lifeblood of the game. WoW is LITERALLY MADE TO BE CAUSAL. Let causal players do their tour. It’s on the community of the game to be welcoming enough to cause the casuals to want to stick around.

Well, lets see. Wrath was dropped in November, 2008. Dungeon Finder was added in Dec, 2009. Cata fully dropped in Dec, 2010. So, almost half then?

Wotlk is extremely casual friendly, even without RDF. The content is super easy and short. By far more for casual than vanilla / tbc, which were already pretty decent for casual players.

The irony is that the lack of RDF absolutely will contribute to that falloff.

Yes I’ve noticed this as well. I’m loving the way each class plays from the ones I’ve played. I think just lack of RDF means if you’re leveling you won’t get into dungeon groups as frequently or at all.

Folks will still level up, but they’re going to be restricted to questing (which just as a personal note, I hate questing so much, especially by myself. It feels so…odd in an MMORPG).

That’s true, Blizzard even suggested that back in 2009, they only said it just makes tanks from other servers available for players.

Um it was added when ICC was put into the game and ICC is the iconic WotLK raid.
