Some will maybe. There’s a lot of things wrong with classic that people put up with for the sake of the content… for example, we used to have actual raid progression. With raids being easier that’s not really a thing now but people still play anyways. We used to have new content and attempts at class balance, no layering, faction balanced servers, etc.
Basically, classic is an imperfect imitation of vanilla that almost everyone is playing either for nostalgia or because there is no replacement for the content. Once you go to cata the game just straight up isn’t good enough to put up with the flaws the game has now.

Eye of the beholder. Cata was fine (IMO) & actually better than what came before it in many ways (every version of the game has it’s positives & negatives). It was simply a time-frame in the original game’s lifespan that a lot of long-time players were hitting franchise burnout (from late WotLK through Cata & into MoP), after years & years of playing WoW. I can name just as many (or more) things that I personally disliked about Vanilla, TBC & WotLK respectively, so it all boils down to individual subjectivity.
Most of what I have heard from the Cata bashers is basically that more challenging dungeons/content (aka not a complete faceroll for pinata loot) = BAD & old world revamp (aka any substantial change/deviation to the rose-colored-glasses memories of earlier WoW in general) = BAD.

I’ll gladly play it. I liked cata. The music they added to so many of the zones, was fantastic.
I want MoP, though if we go that route of continuing on with after Deathwing stuff, it needs to stop there.

They should skip Cata and just give us MOP.

Cata was definitely better than TBC. In some ways it was better than Vanilla but it doesnt beat Wrath or MoP. If TBC got a rerelease then Cata definitely should

Cata was leagues superior to anything in tbc and was ok compared to wrath but improved so many systems it still beats imo
Personally i think one of the unspoken reasons many hated Cata was because there was a general removal of dead brain classes, replaced with something that actually required some level of engagement and attention to perform well.
About half of the Wotlk pop is plates and most are dps. Imagine being decent 2 entire years pressing 1 button to suddenly become an underperformer. Ofc they hate it.
Class reworks in cata were amazing

I liked Cata. Survival Hunter was amazing and I enjoyed leveling through the old world with the revamp. Heroics were challenging and Firelands is a top tier raid. The only thing I’d say hard NO to would be raid finder.

Pandaria received a huge amount of well deserved hate at the time. The later patches brought redeeming content, but Loot Box Island drove a ton of people away.

If they actually implement Cata into Classic, I’d stick to what I had said before. Which is that while many of the current Classic community would probably not go for it, it would most likely bring a lot of new people to Classic and the game population would stay relatively the same.
However, given the current decisions towards Wrath Classic, unless the dev team itself is seriously reworked, we would most likely see an unholy abomination that is somehow hated by both people that already hate Cata, and people who claim it was a good/alright expansion.
I want to play Cata but I also want them to keep a Wrath Era up.
I mean I never played any of these expansions but SL so
I want to experience what I can out of WoW lol.

History has shown that people will leave at the end of Wrath regardless of Cata Classic. No amount of server restarts or fresh servers will stop it. Cata may drive some off just as the new content in it will keep some people playing. Everyone should have known from the beginning that Classic had a finite shelf life.

Yes. But that’s ignoring the fact that the population didn’t plummet, it was literally just a dip. For how many players quit with Cata, almost just as many started.

I don’t remember much about Cata except didn’t care for it much besides the pvp. I remember I had a lot of fun on warlock in Cata
We really need a wrath era server, or they guarantee have mop era. I will choose which character move on to mop
