I don't thin lk people understand the RAF issue

I never heard anyone ask for this transmog actually. You guys managed to live without this for 14 years, you will continue to manage if you don’t get it now.

Or you could just you know invite a friend to play.

I’ve seen you in several threads go out of your way to make deliberately contrarian statements that don’t even make sense, then sit back and wait for a bite, then return to the thread and try again when it doesn’t happen.

I state my opinions. Whether it sounds contrarian to you or anyone else is none of my business.

Should I be bothered because you thought I try to fish for replies?

It’s a nice outfit.

Honestly, if they just added a backpack into the game, or multiple backpacks into the game, that just took up the back slot, then I think this wouldn’t be a problem.

I would like that backpack. I ain’t paying $200 for it. That’s ridiculous.

Honestly I’m surprised that Blacksmithing, Tailoring, and Leatherworking aren’t given more cosmetic and transmog items to make.

Definitely would be a nice addition to professions to make limited time cosmetics given they can make cloth chests which everyone can use.

This could also give people an option to pay and get the perma look (I don’t really endorse it) or use professions and get an option to use it for some time.

''I didn’t see a backpack until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but a mog piece!.. Blizzard betrays you because they belong to me!" - Bane Kotick 2019

And yeah, that’s the reason, it’s supposed to be exclusive… but it begs the question, is it ok for R.A.F. to not have any unique items… is it ok to have unique rewards if it were rewards you do not want… I get the anger for not getting something like the back pack or such in say, archeology in game but maaan, for all the unique rewards it had before… for something that basically has you paying nothing if you ACTUALLY recruit a friend… I feel the anger and rage of it all is just lynch mobs going after Acti-Blizzard more so than it is for a backpack.

Well. Jewelry is physical and has value after purchase. Jewelry comes in various quality levels and you can buy a ring that fits your spending capability. So as far as analogs go I’m not sure you picked the best one.

Jewelry’s value drops significantly after purchase, and it’s very difficult to resell except at pawn shop. There’s a reason that scrap services exist.

But if you buy a ring for a thousand bucks, it does not contain a thousand dollars worth of precious metal. And good luck finding a buyer for gems. As an investment, unless it’s antique, it’s a massive waste of money.

Jewelry’s entire purpose is to SHOW wealth, not be a store of wealth. You’re far better going to a coin store and buying bullion.

Oh ffs. What is the value of a virtual backpack post purchase?

It’s zero.

Are you suggesting that people will buy this mog so they can show off their net worth? Maybe. It still won’t have tangible value in the real world.

I’m an RPer. In fact, RP is primarily why I play.

I don’t mind the backpack being RAF. Comparing it to locking mythic raiding behind RAF is silly. We can still RP whether we have a cosmetic backpack or not.

I just think people need to calm down and wait to see what other gear and transmog options will be available in 9.0.

If there’s no backpack when that comes out then lose your mind…

Yes, I picked the best analogy. You are just looking past my intended comparison.

It isn’t a “pay wall”. It’s a loyalty program. It’s exactly like it was. If you wanted the previous RAF rewards, you had to con a friend into playing the game and buying game time. Alternatively, you could make another account and recruit yourself. Which you can still do. And you can still buy the game time with Blizzard Balance.

Just because RAF now has a reward you want, doesn’t mean it’s suddenly become a “pay wall”.

And even if it is a “paywall,” so what? Is it so much to ask that you pay for something that isn’t required to “beat” the game? If you want to look better than your fellow gamers, you need to pay for it. It’s the ultimate RP because it’s just like that in real life.

I agree that it’s okay for purely cosmetic items to cost money, but it’s still disingenuous for complainers to say Blizzard is “forcing” them to pay $200 for something that can be obtained through other means.

-hundreds of costumes exist Ingame

-complains about first one that doesn’t even cost money.

:+1:

Don’t you think it’s funny that the people who automatically asssume it costs money are basically saying ‘I have no friends!’

Heck you could even gift someone a 12 month sub and get ze costume.

Knowing Blizz, as soon as everyone has paid up for the RAF version there will be recolors released from some super easy task.

I’ll just add this:

The RAF rewards ALWAYS had complainers about how it’s a microtransaction or content behind a paywall. There were complaints about the zebra mount, then it got REALLY fierce for the rocket mount, since it was the only two person mount in game until Blizzard added the tundra mammoth and mechano hog (I can’t be sure, but the rocket mount was launched a little before the mammoth and the mechano hog).

And I believe a 2 person mount, especially the game’s first 2 person mount, has more in game ramifications than transmog.

I do think that the plane mount is valuable though, since nowadays, getting a 2 person flying mount can be hard. I only remember the drake from Cata that could fly and carry a passenger.

The hivemind and the stormwind skychaser/orgrimmar interceptor are flying mounts as well.
