I don't really like the Evoker - am I alone?

They put me off. They’re more like sparkledogs than a proper wow race.

compared to WotLK DK’s…

swing and a miss!

I don’t have much to say about Evoker because I hate dracthyr so much I can’t play one. Such a lazy, corner-cutting, derpy-looking race. I can’t stand them.

I’d play one if we could choose our visage forms of any race, I’d be a gnome dragon like Chromie.

As it stands, I won’t touch them really aside from playing with the cosmetics.

I’d probably like it more if there were different races. I don’t like the dragon form at all.

Yes, I wanted to like it more, but I’m finding my Demon Hunter still more fun. Here are my gripes with the Dracthyr and Evoker, especially:

  • Dragon form is essentially male–there are no female bodies. Yes, you can pick the thinnest frame and try to make it appear more feminine but as soon as your character speaks, it’s still a male voice (I always play a female bc I am one).
  • I HATE THE MECHANICS OF FIRE BREATH AND ETERNITY SURGE. Why TF would you ever want to cast just a half-assed spell? Thus, why is that even an option? We should just push the button and wait for the FULL cast to queue up and fire. I am so used to stacking spells one after the other, I constantly forget to go back and hit the dang spell a second time to get the max fire. ARGH.
  • SOAR - long cooldown. Just adding my agreement to everyone else’s gripe about this. Maybe its purpose will become more apparent once the full expansion drops (I never got into Beta). Right now I don’t even use it–I’d rather just get on my flying mount and not worry about a timer.
  • Zephyr & Hover - they don’t seem to do much other than make you float.
  • Deep Breath & Landslide - when you first trigger these spells the green rectangle should automatically place in front of you, not behind you–so that you then have to rotate it around to actually hit the target. Took me a bit to figure out why I kept going backwards.
I’m sure there are more things, but this is a list of my main issues.

It’s probbaly going to replace my druid and paladin then again my paladin is feeling weak right now for some reason i can’t put my finger on it.

Yes you’re alone, you’re the only one who doesn’t like Evoker.

I like evokers, I like other people playing them. Not me. :relieved:

I love the race and creating mine was a lot of fun. Not sure how I feel about the class itself. Not to sound like a dummy, but it’s maybe too high skill of a class for me to want to play. They’ve got a little too much to manage. I’d love for Dracthyr to open up to other classes, I want to make one into a warrior.

I love them and will main one. But I’m glad that it doesn’t completely dominate people’s interests the way it has mine. I wouldn’t want to be surrounded by nothing but dragons all the time.

Fire breath charging affects how the damage happens. The longer you charge (higher tiers) the more burst damage you do, but less dot damage. Charging it up is better for bursting down adds but the first tier seems better if they last the dot duration [I think, haven’t played enough with them to completely verify]

With eternity surge you only want to channel to hit all the targets in range. Only two or three mobs? Dont need to fully charge that! 4-5 you bet you want the full charge! It’s odd, but I feel it is dynamic, personally

I don’t like it either. I made one who I got half way through the starting zone with… and there she sits. Can’t say I’m inspired to pick her up again to continue on :woman_shrugging:

I kinda like it, my only problem is that this class sucks to play if you live away from a Blizzard server. Empowered spell + high ms feels really bad.

Which spells do you feel are impractical some times?

I like seeing them in action; lots of very cool animations and graphics, much better than most classes right now.

However I really dislike the playstyle, and i’ve never cared for ranged.

If they made a melee dps one, I’d probably give it an honest try.

I enjoy the playstyle, though I presume it will have a higher skill ceiling than other classes going forward.

As for the running animation, I will give you that… it is very stiff, particularly the arms. It looks fine from the back.

Just the range can get in the way sometimes, and the charged spells, but other than that the more I play them the more I understand their idea on how the class functions, so I’d say I understand their practicality better now.

I don’t wanna say I don’t like it, but it isn’t what I expected.

I wish they had more spells! Preservation spells are great, the other spec is kinda “meh” for me. Can’t really specify why though!

preservation feels great, deva feels like gutted pres with damage, would like to see black dragonflight brought into their tree
