Sounds more like stockholm syndrome in that case.
Oh it is, the unfortunate part is the spec is going to have to suffer for a while until Blizzard (hopefully) says “ok ok, you guys were right the spec literally cannot function in aoe without acro due to its design”(almost like this is literally the reason why Outlaw uniquely had additional range on abilities when it was introduced).
The ironic part is despite them removing all the additional range abilities from all the melee, the range of melees are still very much different. Like Ret losing their absurd range on their abilities doesnt actually matter because they still have a bunch of abilities they can use that have 10+ yard ranges, and if you compare Outlaw to another rogue spec like…Sub, why can sub(without acro) still hit things in AoE with shuriken storm+Sec tec+BP from like twice as far as outlaw again? So theres only this perception that theyve “normalized” and equalized the range of all melee, when in reality that isnt even remotely true. It just a completely nonsensical change that no one asked for. And ironically enough, the spec that was the original “long arms” spec, is the one who now suffers the most from the removal of all such talents…its just comical, its as if they genuinely have no idea how a spec in their own game functions.
The entirety of TWW seems as if it’s going to be a Shadowlands level disaster, or worse, if they don’t get off their high horses about these decisions and revert the changes. They are so insistent on keeping bad changes and doubling down on them solely to feel like they’re in charge that it’s killing the game.
I have a huge problem with modern Blizz, and that’s the whole “we know better than you” mentality that seems to be driving most of the balance decisions they’ve made through the last 2 expansions. No, Blizzard, you obviously don’t have enough QA staff and people who actually play the game to make reflexive decisions like this without testing. And apparently you have even less staff who understand simple algebra.
It’s starting to feel like they’re intentionally killing specs that they don’t want to put resources into balancing solely so they have less workload, and it’s extremely stupid. I genuinely would have preferred a small iteration on the current trees instead of this Hero Tree crap, if the end result was going to be a more even distribution of time for all classes’ development.
To be fair, they have moved away from the “we know better than you” attitude that existed during SL. And they have actually been much more receptive to feedback, and actually iterating on that feedback. The problem is they will randomly have their own ideas to add(or take away things in the game) things that no one asked for, and they are often ideas that are obviously not going to be well liked/received by many players, but they often go through with them anyway. Then what follows is the cycle of them progressively breaking down or removing what the players have said they dont enjoy, then they get to say “see, weve heard what the players want, and were iterating on it” as if the entire situation couldnt have been avoided in the first place by ironically enough…listening to feedback.
The other major issue is that as much as they claim they want every class to have value, and have their favorite spec/class feel powerful, there is (and has been for a while) a VERY significant, and very noticeable gap in not only the amount, but also the quality of attention and iteration certain specs/classes receive, compared to others. I wont go into specifics, but I think this alpha/beta cylce is a clear example of this, and its quite apparent which specs received a ton of high quality iteration/attention, and which received very little attention(and most of it being uninspired, and blatantly low effort garbage tier attention), like Rogue.
I agree they’ve definitely improved on the problem since Shadowlands, but I don’t think it’s entirely gone for this exact reason. They have a few designers that get stuck on ideas like this, trying to force them to work (IE: “All Rogues must do the ritual of pressing SND”) which, despite literal years of feedback explaining that it’s not healthy for the class, they still force the design ideas because they think they know best in those cases.
If they want to double down on this decision, they’re going to have to overhaul and redesign the spec from the ground up as the spec was designed entirely to interact with having the extra range. Which, honestly at this point, I don’t know if they even have a clue how they would do that as they seem to have run out of ideas for Rogues.
It’s very obvious that they have specs internally that they either prefer to design for or prefer to play. They also heavily prioritize things like Paladin as a large percentage of the player base is either willing to swap to it or plays it actively (I hate the class personally, not a fan of deus vult).
The result is, sadly, exactly as you said. Very little attention, low effort, and low quality design for specs that they don’t wish to actually put time into.
The way I see it, we pay them to actually see proper attention on all the content they give us. That includes all the specs, and they aren’t delivering on that at all. Odds are, this is the xpac that gets me to unsub again with how things are panning out.
I dropped the game a few times over the years when things were getting bad, and I have no issues not spending money if they aren’t going to place effort where they should.
They improved briefly with DF with more dialogue and communication but they are back to turtle mode and their shell. The blue replies in the TWW beta is easily half as much as the DF beta.
Since WoD communication has declined badly.

ya and thats due to multiple instances where devs that talked in public spaces being met with vitriol. why would microsoft blizzard risk their assists when every dent head going into extremes and calling for the removal or worse of a person when the direction of class change goes in a different way then what they personally want
Current BlizZard has become mentally weak.
Old BlizZard would talk to their customers because they were mentally strong. Customer service is a muscle that must be worked to work properly with the good and bad. Without practice of communication and customer service skills what happens is that over time the mind loses its sharpness and that is what has happened as BlizZ HQ.

while i do agree that customer service should be a muscle that needs to be constantly used.
but calling the devs or blizzard “Weak” for limiting direct contact is just putting the blame on them completely when the rabid community goes to extremes when any spec gets nerfed by 1% overal. this isnt a blizzard issue, this is a issue for ALOT of games with a community, helldivers, destiny, diablo, valorant, and wow. im not gonna single you out cause your atleast reasonable most of the time
but theres alot of individuals in this very forums that went to extremes since they learned of the devs username, and the only reason they didnt go into further extremes is due to the forums policy against real life threats.
If the shoe fits it is what it is.
At this point the lack of communication is the judge and jury of the final outcome. Had they communicated like professionals with the TWW beta they would have been given leeway.
But failure to do that means they are not afforded any quarter or any mercy.
This is the Rogue forum where only the strong survive. Especially true given our small numbers but we are a resilient group. "And we have circled the wagons many, many, many times to weather the coming storms. That is what makes us strong as Rogues!

the fact you actually typed this with a straight face is cringe. read the room man.
Yes I did and no mercy we sweep the leg here on the Rogue forums.
Rogues for life!
