The reason i don’t do pvp on top of not enjoying it is that it doesn’t give me the right kind of gear for the content that I’m trying to do, if there was a solo pillar that gave 421 rewards akin to m+ then i would be obligated to grind that content for extra chance of getting something usable, i may be in a casual guild but i still try very hard to make my gear as best as possible for my raid team so even keeping up with getting all my keys done sometimes is a chore. All I’m saying is that op is saying the game is “failing” because of a lack of solo content and being more catered to group play but… hear me out… that’s the point of an MMO?
Do you understand what MMORPG stands for idjit if not then let me show you.
MMO means massively multiplayer online, which refers to online multiplayer games where thousands of players can play at one time. Now show the class where that says grouping is required you can’t can you idjit.
Shadowlands literally had torghast. They brought back mage tower. I’ve watched people solo arenas by legally exploiting some random class mechanic or by being really good at their class. Solo content exists you just gotta invest some play time and as the kids say “git gud”
I love pve and with the way gear has scaled by ilvl 400 my mage can solo some dragonflight normal dungeons. Just gotta try.
I’ll be honest, I don’t entirely agree with OP’s concept at all. I love the idea of a solo progression path that is challenging and engaging to the player. But I don’t like the idea of AI teammates, and I don’t think WoW is failing at all because of its lack of solo content. Dragonflight has a lot of solo content, the main argument I agree with is that it’s not progression content akin to the other main avenues.
As for feeling like it’s a chore or an obligation, I think that’s another issue entirely. It’s an understandable one, but it’s much more personal. You shouldn’t do things you don’t want to do in a game you play theoretically to relax from life. If pushing content is what you want to do, then fine. But push it at your pace, and not at the pace of others.
How dare my MMO make me play with other people in group content
My guy if you want a single player MMO, XIV exists and is pretty good. Go there
Nah, people with this idea should absolutely be driven away. And I’ve never said that about anyone, but this is literally what would kill wow, people have been saying this will kill wow or this will kill wow for 20 years. But no this would literally kill wow
How dare my MMO not make grouping required oh wait it doesn’t stop being an elitist and learn what MMO means before spouting off.
The entire genre of the game is MMORPG. The 2nd M is literally MULTIPLAYER. Join a group or play a different game. This is the foundation of how this game works. Many other people said it - you clearly just don’t like this game. You have other options. Play something else. Stop trying to change how a game works to cater to your own life changes and neediness. The answer is it’s not for you anymore.
The thing is, there doesn’t need to be a pitch of ideas because WoW is an MMO. The whole point of an MMO is to play with MANY people simultaneously. It’s a game for the people who DO enjoy grouping with people and playing with people.
Instead of trying to change an MMO into catering for players who enjoy a single player game, Blizzard should continue to cater to their core philosophy of MMO’s (group content and enticing players to play together) and single-player player’s can simply go play a single player game.
Not only that, but there are outlets for solo play in WoW. However, you should not be able to compete with players who are grouping up and doing the hardest content as its meant to be done in an MMO setting. Whether that be by ilvl in terms of dps, or pvp, whatever. It’s an MMO. It needs to stay this way.
Welcome to WoW where you don’t ever HAVE to interact with other players if you don’t want to.
I know this is true, because I don’t. You “have to interact” with other players IF you want certain results. If those certain results don’t matter to you, then interacting with other players isn’t as important. It’s all a matter of determining what matters to you.
Sounds to me like OP feels they need to interact with other players.
You can play Apex Legends without ever interacting with anyone.
Good luck winning though, since that requires killing another player.
How dare you!?
I don’t even know why I go on the forums anymore. It’s just a bunch of dumb on people hating on a Massively Multiplayer Online Rpg for focusing on multiplayer content.
FFS.
Raiimir, I couldn’t care less what the OP wants. I wasn’t responding to the OP, I was responding to your claim that you’ve never played a multiplayer game that doesn’t require interaction with other players. If you’ve ever spent any time playing WoW, then your claim is flatly wrong. WoW has never required such interaction.
What requires interaction with other players is things like dungeons & raids, PvP, & so on. None of those things, however, are necessary for playing WoW. You can easily level from 1 to 70 without ever speaking to another player, & as you yourself have correctly pointed out, you can get some really nice gear while doing so.
Players don’t need to interact with other players for any of it. Players just need to know what to do, where to go, & then go do it. I myself have grouped with other players ONCE since Legion, & that was only for a lark; it wasn’t something I needed to do.
As for Apex Legends, I loathe PvP.
Genius show us where multiplayer means being in a group you are an elitist so shall be ignored but maybe learn better about MMOs.
MMO has a new identity, MSO massively single-player online gameplay!
If you dont want to do group content, then dont. Its not the games fault you are unwilling to do the content designed for an MMO!
AI would just carry all groups, and if they made its skill level worse than yours, you would never be able to do any group content period.
I probably play WoW more than you and every facet of WoW requires player interaction as far as I’m concerned. Playing solo is like pulling teeth to get anything done, basically on the level of trying to play Apex Legends solo without interacting with your team or trying to kill opposing players and hoping they give up and give you the top spot.
And this thread is OP’s thread. OP wants to replace players with AI bots, meaning he recognizes that the game is about grouping, he just wants that grouping to cater to his single player style.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is the game he wants to play, rather than World of Warcraft.
You just made my point for me, thank you.
“requires player interaction as far as I’m concerned.”
Welcome to "but that’s just, like, your opinion, dude. Because I am walking, talking, living, breathing proof that whether player interaction is required, is determined entirely by what a given player thinks is important. I just, in fact, covered all of this in the post to which you responded, so I’m not sure why you’re trying to argue by confirming that, yes, in fact, you can play solo but “it’s like pulling teeth.”
I mean, it’s not even remotely that hard for me, so I’m not sure why it’s so hard for you, given that you’re almost certainly better than me.
“And this thread is OP’s thread.”
Public discussion forum. IMO, the OP is wrong, & I’m going to say so, & I’m going to do so partially by informing you that WoW does not REQUIRE interacting with other players. It does IF YOU WANT THE REWARDS OF GROUP CONTENT. Which, seriously, ought to be a No Duh statement. The corollary is that if you don’t want to do the group content, you don’t actually want the rewards.
This whole “OMG we need challenging solo content” is nonsense. What we need is players to grow up.
If WoW didn’t require player interaction, we wouldn’t constantly have this crying from solo players that group content is required.
Enjoy not getting your 4th Spark of Ingenuity.
Agreed, just group up.
You’re joking right? Lol FFXIV does it and nailed it perfectly
