Blizz has that right and has said that promotional items are game for the trading post.
I’m not a part of the pixels argument. But AOTC was already stated to not be a part of it. If it ever did come back, it should as a reward again for doing the raids, in timewalking.
I don’t know how to help you understand the difference between actually playing a game and just paying for things. It seems like something that eternally confounds you.
What challenge did you face getting any TCG item? Opening a pack? Spending 5$? If it was financially obtainable, it was never special.

Well like the Mage Tower for example, seems to be a popular go-to for examples. Granted I dunno the rewards from that, either, except the fel bear form everyone talks about 
I sucked at the game when the first iteration of the tower came out (well I still suck but not as much!) and it’d be neat to try out, I think. Some of the old pvp stuff might be cool to try for again, too, I suppose. That could potentially breathe a little life back into the undead mess pvp is nowdays. I’m just pontificating and letting my brain ramble out loud, really.
And most people forgot we’ve already paid them 10,000$ for one game, then jump to buy mogs and pets for more. I think we’ve been long forgotten lol
What I don’t understand is why things are “just pixels” until it’s AOTC. Then, well, the pixels need to stay rare and special because of course they do.
What seems confounding to your side is how easily you understand your own valuation of your rare and special things as rare and special, and expect them to share and agree with your reasons, but dismiss everyone else’s, and just assume, well, their reasons are bad, obviously.
Put simply, it’s just a feeling either way. And people don’t have to agree with your valuation either way. But they should try to understand it, either way.
Im all for the exclusivity of commemorative items, but tcg isn’t that.
