Which isn’t the solution being asked for.
Just give players a transmog currency to buy mogs with.
No need to get up in arms over a looting system you don’t like.

People not understanding how the systems work is their problem not blizzards.
They can honestly just get over it.
It might be ripe for abuse, but how much sense does it make to get the item but not the mog, even if you have to equip it (bind it to yourself/make it so you can’t trade) to get the mog
Just delete Lfr.
Well, let’s say that’s the case. You’ve got 10 people the the item is an upgrade for, and 10 people that want the mog.
Upgrade group all rolls and the highest is an 85
All but one of the Transmog group rolls and the highest is a 99
What’s the last Transmog guy gonna do?
Asking the wrong one, as if I was the last Tmog guy, I would still roll Tmog and take the chance (can still beat or tie the 99) but then another one of my ideas was anyone that rolled for mog, got the mog, maybe via a cosmetic item, win or lose.
Mog is also forever for undergeared players.
Right, I’m pretty sure what you would do lol, just the “average Joe” is probably going to roll Need to get the better shot.
Rolling for the mog auto-giving the mog would work as well, but again, I think it would fall under the “we need people to play more”.
I do think all these complications are why Blizzard is like “Forget it, let the players fight it out amongst themselves, we’ll just make a few ‘common sense’ restrictions and be done”. It’s really a haphazard arrangement of implications that has (obviously) multiple interpretations.
I will admit I just end up rolling Need on everything I can. Then I’ll look for the highest Need roll that it’s actually an upgrade for and give it over lol. My only little way to fight back a bit.
True, and the only counter I have for this is maybe limit it to like the top x rolls get it, using your scenario it would be like:
Last one for Tmog sees an 85 on the need but a 99, a 75, a 60, a 50, 2 in the 30s, 3 in the 20s and it is top 5 that win the mog, which provides them the best shot?
You want to raid you use Gl. Nothing else to discuss.
Sounds like you have a specific issue with any potential change.
Nope. I just don’t think people whining about loot systems they clearly don’t know how they work should be given the time of day.
You don’t have to understand or approve everyone’s motives. You kill the boss and divide the spoils.
Then we’re fortunate that you don’t develop the game.
In pug settings people always need things so it will never be possible to ever use transmog roll beyond a very few scarce situations, certainly not worth the persons time to do the content since theyll realistically never get the mog like this. Again, if you participate, you get a chance. We are not friends, its not my job to gear you.
All it means is that normal+ raiders wont participate in lower content and play less. That void will be filled with undergeared alts looking to roll need on everything, you “still” wont get the loot every time and youll be stuck with worse players and characters than ever, with longer queues.
For people like me, restricting my mains rolls in lfr just means ill make another of the same class. And come in the crappiest gear possible and roll need on everything instead of just thr thing i wanted, simce now i have 2 toons to gear.
As long as they don’t cater to the crying that’s fine.
I never claim to be a dev. I just clearly know more about the game than you do.
Ilvl doesn’t mean its an upgrade.
I’m still going for Auger for some of my melee classes.
If players want changes to how transmog is acquired and it disrupts how you like to distribute loot then that’s that.
It’s not as if Retail is set in stone, things can change with feedback.
Even the kind you don’t like.
Transmog is definitely a greed. Your ego seems a bit overinflated. Might wanna let some air out before it cuts off more circulation. Transmog does not trump the need for gear. Your looks doesn’t determine your skill level. If you want to be pretty when you die just stand in an enemy capitol and just let them waste you for a few hours. They won’t care what you look like when they are farming your corpse, you’re currency not a fashion statement.
Everyone’s got their uses for a piece of gear, and not always for the better (like selling the drop for example, that’s a jerk move), but transmog is a justifiable reason for wanting a drop.
In fact, transmog is something that the player in question will get more use out of than a temporary gear upgrade. I’m not saying that gear upgrades are less important, though perhaps I do feel this way to a degree, but everyone’s needs are always going to be different.
