I do not understand how people roll need when wearing more powerful gear

Don’t worry guys. I’ve applied to the Community Council (lol) and I will request Blizzard disallow rolling Need if you have anything in your inventory, equipped, in your bank, void storage, etc. that is of the same slot and a higher ilevel.

We’ll get this straightened out once and for all.

Or they can do nothing because this isn’t an actual issue.

I disagree.

As do many others.

This would turn rolls into either a mixed nash equilibrium or pvp mind games.
Let’s say an item drops. Everyone wanting the transmog with the capability of rolling need would wait until the timer is almost up so they can see which button currently has the lowest winner to beat. Even if they don’t see the current roll they would look at the number of players and go with the option with less competitors. Lacking that they could try to coordinate in chat to split the piles.
If Blizzard tried to implement more need restrictions with this they will end up with either loopholes or edge cases preventing people from rolling on certain upgrades.

People that don’t even understand how the loot system works don’t really have a valid point.

Therefore I don’t care what their opinion is.

The majority of the issues cried about in these threads wouldn’t be solved by PL anyways.

You’d know this if you actually knew how the systems work.

This game isn’t just for you or the groups you run as paid carries.

If the community wants quality changes over a clearly thorny issue then they will push for them.

Thank you for just proving that going to group loot for LFR was stupid because people will do what they can to “win” over others.

Return LFR to PL but ease the restrictions on trading or give the winners an option to put it up for roll if they don’t need it for any reason.

The issue is mostly the confusion.

Why have anything other than “Roll” and “Pass” in queued content if it is as everyone says – “I participated and I deserve a chance at loot”

Why have the inability to roll Need on items I can’t equip? I have a right to the vendor price!

Why have off-spec Need be lower than main spec? My off-spec is just as important!

Just make it a free-for-all, clarify and enforce the loot rules, and/or end this “honor system” failure. Until that time, these threads will continue to be on the top most days. People will be mad at each other here and in game.

The current situation degrades the game as a whole.

It is also not just for those who feel particularly entitled to loot either, not that I am referring to you like this. I’m not, for the record. I’m just saying that everyone deserves a fair shot. If they participated, they have just as much of a right to roll as anyone else under the current loot restrictions. Some will win, and some will lose. Welcome to life. I’m not saying the system is perfect but making it harder to get loot from raids isn’t the solution.

I haven’t sold any boosts since SL so your argument is worthless as usual and ignores what I actually said.

That’s fine. They can just look hilariously incompetent when the issues they want wouldn’t be fixed by PL anyways.

Can’t have an honor system when people don’t have any honor after all. My personal system is based off the idea of treating others how I want to be treated, I know others don’t follow or have such.

They don’t, though. You can’t roll Need if you can’t equip it. My off-spec Need is lower than a main spec Need. etc. etc.

This doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.

The game isn’t degraded because people lack basic competence and don’t understand how the loot systems work.

PL is never coming back. People need to learn to deal with it.

I kind of figured that “under the current loot restrictions” went without saying, but I guess I need to edit my post? Well, done I guess.

This is a false dichotomy. None of my suggestions had anything to do with PL.

There are more than two systems.

I’m not trying to be pedantic here. It really doesn’t hold up that “I participated in the fight, I get a shot at the loot” is what is going on when those restrictions are in place.

Blizzard made the game, and made the rules. Because of technical limitations they can’t always determine when an item is an upgrade, so they let the players decide. It’s a failure of erring on the side of leniency. Otherwise those other restrictions and options (greed, transmog, off-spec need) wouldn’t exist.

The only system being openly complained about is GL in raiding.

Just give people the mog that are higher ilvl and these threads will disappear surprise. And the vendor price is laughable considering how easy it is to get gold. It’s not only people on the forums complaining about this it’s in the game to.

Because that’s the system in place. PL isn’t any better, I agree. But it’s not as visible when you lose, so people are more up in arms about GL.

Hell, if need be, place the lower looks on a vendor with the requirement “need this at x ilvl or y upgrade track” so people at least have an option if LFR is not getting them what they are after.

And that would work too – but I know they won’t do that. They need people playing the game.

If they split it into transmog rolls get you the transmog only and Need rolls get you the item only (no transmog), it would help.

Others have suggested Need get you both, but I think that’s also ripe for abuse.

This whole discussion gets rehashed in its entirety every few days.
