There are potential systems that can amend this and they should be pursued for the benefit of the wider WoW community.

Iâm on mobile so for me the title was âI do not understand how people roll nâŚâ
And I was getting ready to say âI donât understand how someone could roll a Night Elf either. They suck.â
Exactly this. People that strictly come to LFR for the trans mog, if they roll for that they automatically loose as Need takes precedence. What they need to do if a person that is only for the trans mog, they roll against other people wanting that. Then the winner of need gets the gear as an upgrade and the winner of trans mog gets an appearance only version of that gear.
Now me, I donât go into game expecting loot. I go for the adventure and to help other people out. I will pass on gear if I donât know if itâs an upgrade because of the 1 through 8 levels of a piece of gear. If I want it as trans mog I will select that even though I know I wasted a roll. I use the system Blizzard put in place even though I know it is flawed.
This exactly. If we are going to move forward and stop these forum posts, we need to have people that are only for the trans mog actually select trans mog and they get an appearance only version of the piece they rolled on.
The only other option is like Ever Quest did. Blizzard creates recipes for Alchemy where they make potions that could tint gear to what the player desired. This would probably make some higher-level geared players not do lower content, or it provides materials they could need to craft those new recipes.
Nobody asked them to join. Just donât do it.
The only thing Iâd concede here is that we donât know â for certain â that Blizzard set the guidelines up this way. Because they remain completely silent. Like God setting up the rules, then just sitting back and watching people. Not saying one way or the other what the intent was meant to be.
Assuming they DID set it up to be âNeed is for upgradeâ like theyâve said in Customer Support threads, if you donât follow the rules of the game, youâve got every reason to expect that people will consider that a selfish act.
I DO WHAT I WANT doooood!
I recommend you stop doing this, for your heart.
Also, the most expensive mats for the leggo is the DE crystals.
Also, I owe you nothing just because Iâve already done what youâre trying to do.
Iâve never gotten that upset over loot. Been disappointed sure but I mean Iâm a real person Iâm allowed to feel something about not getting cool loot. I just never voiced it to the guild or group. I just was grateful to be part of the run in the first place and also knowing my mindset of this game even in my raiding days was always way more relaxed â I was fine with the people that were much better than me but also they took the game and raiding way more seriously.
To me itâs a game. Itâs pixels, some pixels are nice to have for sure and some I want to have but at the end of the day Iâm just playing a game.
Homie checking your armory after a loot roll be likeâŚ
Iâm not being greedy when I contribute to the top 3 dps in an lfr fight, out performing 10 players combined, making the entire fight easier for everyone.
That tmog color will be with my character forever. On my alts Iâve literally won lfr prices and then replaced them moments later via a weekly quest reward lol.
Why? Kill a boss, distribute the loot. Why does it have to be any deeper than that? To suit a morality system that you created on the spot? Youâve invented a reason to be mad and then demanded a response to it.
With two exceptions, you cannot roll need if you have the same exact item at a higher item level. If you have a hero track tier shoulder at 483, you cannot roll on a champion track tier shoulder token.
The two exceptions are:
I donât see this ever happening because it would reduce play time from players who care about mog and likely make the average capability of LFR groups lower. Higher geared and experienced players are a big part of the reason for LFR having a near 0 failure rate. Blizzard benefits in two ways by having those players in LFR.
What might be possible is having the transmog roll changed to award just the appearance amongst those who hit transmog while anyone rolling need is rolling for the actual item (which would also include the transmog).
A lot of people have been quite vocal how boring they would find grocery list shopping. Perhaps this would be fine for just purchasing transmogs, but if the items themselves were only acquired from purchasing off a vendor, that would greatly dull the excitement when killing bosses.
To be clear, I am all in favor of a currency thatâs intended to serve as deterministic bad luck protection to get your hands on that weapon or trinket or special effect ring that refuses to drop after 4, 5, 6 weeks (or whatever amount of time is appropriate). I just donât want my entire raid gearing experience to feel like Iâm going to the grocery store with list in hand and cash in pocket.
I am going to roll on it regardless of my gear. It gives me the option then I am, transmog is for reelz man. AND there is nothing you can do about it but suck it up princess. Until the almightys change this and it is an option then I am going to do this.
Are you saying that I should not be allowed to roll for a color that blizzard put on some trivial difficulty cuz I already have the higher level piece?
I killed the boss. Why shouldnât I get the right to roll on gear?
Why should you get the gear then? Youâre already running the content that what you wear allows you to run. You donât need the lfr gear. You already cleared the content with whatever green blue or purple piece you got. You saw the story youâre done.
I for one would like the colored gear. Because for me transmogs is endgame.
Ilvl is temporary transmogs last forever
Need those 5 colors of the same gear because we donât have a dying system.
They get the mog too. They also get the ilvl boost.
Some peoples endgame is lfr. How many times do people have to complain about their progression being delayed by greedy people (who donât even use the mogs 99% of the time) until people like you realize that making the game experience worse for others is in fact a bad thing.
The ilvl argument is dumb because you will also get your chance to easily get the mog once the next patch comes out, and there is 0 pressure timewise to get it since mog is forever right? While the ilvl boost is actually time sensitive.
The fact that the game not only lets people like you do this but actually encourages it is a huge flaw.
Lfr as end game people donât even need the lfr raid drops. Gear is supposed to be a ladder. And they stopped at the basement.
Lmao by that logic mythic fyrakk doesnât need to drop loot since they beat the raid right?
It is why ff14 highest and hardest content only drops skins. So yeah!
Game doesnât let you roll need if you have more powerful item equipped in that slot. Remember we each wear two rings and two trinkets, sometimes even two weapons.
SMH. Itâs another one.
Youâre assuming my end game isnât LFR (or at least implying it). And even if it wasnât, tough. They had as much right to roll on it as you did and GL prevents them from rolling on it if they have a more powerful version of the same item anyways (most of the time).
As I already said, the whole âyou wonât use the mog 99% of the timeâ argument is invalid. The ilvl youâre chasing will get replaced by a WQ in the next patch. Mogs are forever. Ilvl is fleeting.
So itâs fine to tell others to âwait for the next patchâ (which is a stupid argument btw since you waiting for the next patch wonât get you the mogs. You have to wait for the next expac before mog runs are a thing for the current expac) but not ok for you to actually wait till the next patch to get better gear from a WQ???
Iâll grant you that the ilvl relevancy thing is time sensitive by its nature. Fair enough. But thems the breaks when it comes to pug content.
The only person whoâs greedy here is you for thinking you have more rights than others to get drops. You think because your ilvl is lower (and that ilvl is the be and end all of the game) that somehow that gives you greater rights over someone whoâs ilvl is higher. No. It doesnât work that way. Their sub money is just as equal as yours. You donât get preferential treatment. Especially not in the pug LFR world. You want preferential treatment? Then go join a guild and do premade stuff.
I say this as someone whoâs end game actually is LFR and have lost rolls to higher geared players. It comes with the territory. They contributed to the fight just as much as anyone else did. Usually more since they will have higher dps/hps than a lower geared character.
If blizz really wanted to block higher geared players from rolling need on lower ilvl gear, then they would close the GL loopholes. Like being able to roll need when the duplicate item:
All 4 points are exceptions in the GL system that allow higher ilvl players to roll need on lower ilvl gear.
