This is a crock, and has continued to be slung about like it’s true for weeks. It’s simply not the case.
As the season progresses more overgeared players join, but we would see so many more LFR failures. The max I’ve seen here is maybe 3 stacks. That’s on 13 characters of LFR per week.
Not quite true – and why the restriction on “use”? Since we’re interpreting things for Blizzard in one way, what makes all the other interpretations wrong?
Like the inference that there is a Transmog Roll.
Like the inference that there is a Greed Roll.
Like the inference that I cannot roll on something I already have. Why not? I can still “use” it? How is that “fair”? I still fought!
I need money! I still fought the fight, why can’t I “use” it for money?
All of this “you fought in the battle, you deserve a roll” is player interpretation, not Blizzard. So it’s just as made up as “you shouldn’t Need on things you don’t need as an upgrade”.
Blizzard made vague rules that lead to conflict. It’s a crummy system. People will still roll however they want, nothing will change, Blizz will make a new hair color next patch and send a special alert to your phone about how amazing it is.
If that person feels need and the game gives them the ability to yes.
Your need for upgrades isn’t more valued than someone’s need for transmog. Just because YOU feel it’s not valid doesn’t mean that’s the case.
Your definition of greedy doesn’t magically make someone wrong for doing what they are allowed to do.
No one is entitled to anything.
I don’t need to rethink anything. I’m not the one throwing a tantrum on the forums because I didn’t get the loot I felt entitled too.
I lost both nymue caster trinket and the tindral caster trinket and I’m using last seasons trinkets but I didn’t throw a fit. There’s always next week and mythic plus.
When are people going to realize that anyone can and should roll need on anything and everything if they participate because it’s their right, no one has to put anyone else before themselves regardless of reason/reasons.
My vibe is either you win or some else does and if you really want it or need it rerun it if you didn’t/don’t win.
Why should someone have to wait 4+ years to be able to farm the mog piece they want now?
I mean, that ilvl upgrade you want is only going to mean something for maybe 3 months at most, assuming you don’t upgrade it again.
I think it’s amusing to see entitled people calling mog collectors selfish because they missed out on a potential gear upgrade in LFR… That’s, what, 441ish? You can get that in world content. Can’t get those mogs in world content.
But at any rate, most people play this game for themselves. In the rare occasion you choose to be altruistic to that person in LFR, know that they won’t remember who you are or even know you exist for greed rolling. If you want that kind of relationship with the other players in your instance, join a guild group. Otherwise you’ll just make yourself mad because you’re a sore loser.
Shoot, if he’s doing all the work and I’m just watching Matlock on cruise control, I’m not even mad about it. He earned his keep as far as I’m concerned.
Some people pretend it’s still PL and just blindly hit need on everything they can (which is basically what PL did for you, it was just hidden). You win the roll or don’t. Inspecting people to see if they “deserve” it is the actual toxic behavior. You are clearly hurting your own psyche by doing it. Stop feeding your greedy/envy/jealousy and you will be a much happier person.
Not my responsibility to help a random person in my raid who I will never raid with again with gear. They want gear join a guild/make friends. I am there for my own needs not your needs.
Your idea of a good reward is the ilvl upgrade. My idea is the mog. Blame Blizzard for a allowing me to q at all and for not offering some other avenue for that tint I want.
On the flip side you do have upgrades outside available outside of lfr. Don’t want to participate in those? Too bad. Diversify.
Also lol at the attempted jab at what I’m supposed to be doing.
Lfr comes and goes every week. Try again for your upgrade. I got the tint I want so one less “greedy” person to roll against!
Use is use. Blizzard’s rules determine I am able to use the item. HOW we the players choose to use it is up to us - there is nothing more to interpret. Yes, the fact that their system means the transmog roll button has been useless since day 1 is crummy, but why should I keep passing up something I will use, over and over week after week for all the fresh 70s each week in LFR? Out of the goodness of my heart? At what point is it “fair” for me to finally roll Need on an item I will use? Why do you get to determine that? You don’t, which is precisely why I get to roll and use the item as I see fit.
Once Blizzard has determined I may use the item and therefore can roll Need, they have made it clear they will not give any specific parameters for what use requires:
Changing to Group Loot for raids makes the process of loot acquisition and distribution more transparent and gives players more freedom to trade loot around and allocate it socially if they choose to do so.
If I’m in there for mog (as Blizzard clearly wants me to be), I will choose to pass on trinkets, necks, and rings. And probably weapons. But per their own words, I also get the freedom to use the item for transmog, too. Anyone claiming their use is more important than someone else’s is wrong. Don’t believe me? Report it next time and see what Customer Service tells you, lol. Stop trying to tell people how to allocate the loot they won because of the entitled personal conditions you are trying to add to Blizzard’s rules that are not there for a reason.
You may only roll Need on an item if your class can equip it and it is considered an upgrade. i.e. “Need is intended for upgrades”
The intent was upgrade. Blizzard doesn’t stop you from being a jerk. It’s your choice what to do, but some people try to rationalize for whatever reason.
That’s one interpretation. Another, more likely, is that Blizzard cannot determine that it’s not an upgrade.
As stated above, Need is for upgrade. It doesn’t stop you, so do what you will.
Transmog and mounts are usually what drive me to participate in all sorts of content, so yeah. lol When I get what I want or finish a set, or a mount, I feel that I’ve made personal progress. That progress just isn’t in the form of player power, though a lot of the time those things go hand in hand.
When I stated I went that long without a new trinket, it was due to the fact that trinkets literally DID NOT DROP. I would have used just about anything, but nothing dropped. Only yesterday did I finally get a trinket to drop to replace my s2 441 neltharions call to dominance. There were no trinkets in vault, did not get any trinkets in M+ runs, did not get trinkets from weekly, I mean they DID NOT DROP. I only run with friends, i will never heal pug groups for M+ because DPS have ruined pugs for me. DPS and tanks have more overlaps in gear/trinkets so they have an exponetially easier time gearing imo (esp. considering that there are 3 dps)
I had already crafted my gear early on in the season with the expectation that eventually a trinket would drop. You do know crafted trinkets count as embellishments, and given how expensive crafting is, I cant afford to craft crappy gear. (20k for crest mats, another 5k for tip, then the mats for the gear plus another tip… its like 40-50k each embellishment)
And finally the last note is just how horrible trinkets for MW are this season, neltharions call to domaince is still better than the majority of trinkets for this season. So even if a trinket did drop it would technically be a downgrade despite the ilvl increase. Would you wear gear than nets you lower results?
You can, but you will also be waiting a while for certain raids to become easier. Heck, BfA is what, a little over 5 years old now. SL nearly 4. There’s a fair amount that can’t be handled solo for transmog yet. If it’s between getting a mog now and waiting almost half a decade on a maybe, then no, I’m snagging it now. My need for an item is no greater than someone else’s, and vice versa. I will die on this hill.
Actually, unless it is a weapon, shield or off hand, you can get most of them in world content. World content gear can be converted to tier looks, and most raid pieces share looks with tier, the only area that could be an issue here is say getting the paladin tier look on a warrior or similar set-ups.
Which just begs the question why switch?
Blizzard did make the system, but why did they not make it clear that needing and Tmog could exist together but not overcome each other? All it would take to solve most issues is separating need and mog to their own rolls, winner of one get s the item and possibly the mog, the other just gets the mog.
The least they could have done is not show who rolled what (need/Tmog/greed/pass) and just show who won the item, regardless of how they rolled.
This isn’t true at all if it was you could go farm BFA stuff and given certain mechanics you still can’t many years later, not to mention no one should have to wait to farm mogs, if they participate in a fight they are just as entitled to roll on anything as anyone else.
