Timer is 100% optional.
You can spend a week in there if you want to.
Timer is 100% optional.
You can spend a week in there if you want to.
Youâre correct, it is optional. But because thereâs a penalty for not beating the timer itâs seen as the entire point rather than a bonus. Thatâs what I think needs to be fixed.
Donât look at it that wayâŚ
âŚthink of it as a bonus for exceptional performance.
I agree, but most people donât seem to and it breeds a bad attitude towards the content.
Great advice i stopped doing those after legion no regrets ftw!
the penalty isnât even that harsh. Itâs a key level down, so what just run it again and be better next time. Legion when we fail our key weâre screwed for the week that because we have a depleted key.
Itâs not harsh. But it gets the most emphasis and the focus, rather than being seen as a bonus.
The timer isnât tight though in pretty much every dungeon. If you have OK dps and go pack to pack with no mistakes you will time it with minutes to spare until you get into the 20s.
If going one pack at a time you still are over time then the content is too hard for you so it gives a key of a more appropriate level.
If they didnât deplete then people would get 1 carry at the start of the season then have a key too high for them to realistically complete forever and list it to bait people into carrying them through.
People do that now as it is, thats the folly of the M+ system, and why things like raider io exists. Though the biggest issue is that pretty much EVERYTHING is a race these days. I was pretty eh over the timer in Legion but now that we also have islands and visions emphasizing a gotta go fast playstyle as well⌠well, I am just over that playstyle. Especially as a class that is physically incapable of going fast.
I donât know how to change M+ to suit. I freely admit that. But however it changes I would really love to see the timer go. It wonât change MDIs as the timer rewards are irrelevant to them, so Blizz can keep its fancy speedrunning esports for that community. But it would be lovely if they didnât force everyone into speedrunning.
You know, some of us would love to see how high we can progress without having to fight a time limit, right? We like a challenge but dislike feeling rushed. I most certainly would NOT wait for bloodlust for every pull, some would and if they want to let them, but I would like to be able to cooperate with the party to take down overwhelming odds. And Iâd like to do that without the anxiety of a ticking bomb in my face.
You can do Mythic+ right now without speedrunning. Just focus on âNOT DYINGâ. Make sure your partymates AVOID DYING too. M+ timers are very forgiving. M+ is just strict on DEATHS. Deaths gives timer penalties. Wipes gives huge timer penalties. Stop thinking of speed run. JUST FOCUS ON NOT DYING⌠avoid poos on the floor, do interrupts, stun them, CC them while you nuke them and you would beat M+ easily.
No, really? I had no idea!
Seriously man, you just donât get it. I know M+ is like that but anxiety is irrational. I can only bear to do M+ with my friends, and we donât even really do them that much as is anymore anyway. I can do any other content with pugs just fine, but throw a timer in there and my anxiety flares up like crazy. Suddenly I feel like I have to try to race it so that I donât let these randos down. Iâm usually super chill, just do my thing, joke around, kill some bad guys, have some fun. Throw in a timer and suddenly I feel like itâs super serious and these people will hate me if I mess up even once, and to be fair in the M+ community that is absolutely true. Who cares, theyâre just pugs that Ill never see again, I know, but again anxiety is irrational.
It sucks, and I know there are many many others out there who get the same way as I do.
EDIT: Oh, and again, it sucks even more when doing this on a class that is physically incapable of going fast, that just makes it all the more stressful
so you want to change things because you donât enjoy it. Screw everyone else who like it right?
Again and I will iterate it as slow as I can. the dungeon has more than enough time to finish with pulling a pack at a time at low level. You dont need to MDI pull anything. MDI pulls are to finish the dungeon in 15mins or less. You have over double the time require to do it.
And if time gives you anxiety then just minimize your quest log. And the timer disappear.
Except removing the timer doesnât screw people who like to go fast. You tell me to just ignore the timer? Allow me to tell you to get a stopwatch and a death counter.
thereâs enough people in this thread who thinks timer is a bad idea. Go party w/ them. Make a âcompletionâ only run. Youâre just making excuses now
I think a version with leader boards would be fine but I donât like the timers either. It does create a lot of negative areas in that field of game play. I stopped running M+ a while ago because I didnât want to deal with the stress of it anymore. If the timer was gone along with the multi-option chest coming in SL, I might partake again. Should just leave timers for the championship imo
Timer mentality sucks. Plain and simple folks. They are also annoying to look at. Im not doing a relay here get that timer out of my face!
good things youâre in classic right
So you do know you can do M+ and just complete them, and not be âforcedâ to make the timer, right? You get a chest as long as you complete the dungeon.
There is no need to take away the timer for ppl who enjoy doing that sort of challengeâŚ
I will NEVER understand the âTake this away because I donât like it, to hell with what other ppl may like/enjoyâ mindset.
So correct me if Iâm wrong, but if everyone âjust ignored the timerâ, would a key just not ever get past a +2? There has to be a point where someone cares about the timer if the key is ever to get to a decent size.
people who care about the content care about the timer. Because to us itâs how we can pull efficiently with the allocated time the dungeon gave us. I personally find it fun. Especially micromanaging things. People who dislike timers lets face it want +15 reward and the mount while playing badly
And FYI you gotta be some special kind of bad to fail a +2
