I cant play with my lower level family members! (stuck in chromie time!)

Is this intentional that I cannot play with my kids who are lower level? They are stuck in Chromie time.

There is no option for them to leave Chromie time.
There is no option for me to join them in Chromie time.
Party Sync does not put us in the same phase.

How is this a thing in a MMO? you really cannot help people level without making a new character? And if you level a few levels ahead of them one of you is forced out of Chromie time and the other person must finish up alone?

How are more people not complaining about this?

Players using Chromie Time can talk to Chromie again and ask to return to the current timeline. You should be able to play with them in the current timeline, though I haven’t tested it to see.

Players can only run Chromie Time to level 60 (it might be 70 now); once you’re beyond that, you can only do current content. It might be a “grand adventure” to level a new character alongside them, helping them develop their characters.

If you’d like to suggest changes, you can use the in-game suggestion tool, or make a post in General Discussion.

The phasing issues relating to this sort of situation are really annoying and frustrating.

It shouldn’t happen given that the devs keep saying its supposed to be a socially interactive game.

Yes, people complain OP, but nothing is done. There are a number of solutions. Firstly, a new player should have the option regarding what starter zone to use for a first character. Not every person who begins to play WoW has never played an MMO or any kind of online game before. Many people are perfectly familiar with how the stuff works. When I started playing 15 years ago there was no Exiles Reach; you just picked a race and bam, you were in the racial starter zone and you began to play. Sure, it might be confusing at times but now that we have Newcomer Chat and now that other more experienced players can help their friends play, why should that choice not be available?

And its absolutely unacceptable to be forced into taking on Chromie time if it interferes with your ability to play with family and friends.

No one is forced to take on Chromie time… In fact it is exactly what you seem to be asking for. It allows new players to start playing in any era they want to start in. They can start in BC, or Warlords, or Wrath, etc. Someone not knowing that you can leave Chromie time or that it isn’t required is not a Blizzard problem.

The OP didn’t know how Chromie Time works and thought that their kids couldn’t leave it. That is obviously untrue as you can leave Chromie Time at any point and it only lasts until level 70. There is no phasing issue at play here. This was literally someone not realizing how something in the game works.

I agree with you, that is how it should work, but it doesn’t. I might have to make a video showing exactly what is happening.

If my daughter talks to Chromie the only option she has is to ask her more questions. I can see her in Stormwynd because she is actually not in Chromie time. But her character is level 60 so she wants to go to Dragon Isles. We get on the boat together and sail to dragon isles, as soon as we get there it phases her into Chrome Time.

The phase bubble by her names says, this player is in another instance, go talk to Chromie to join them, or have that player leave Chromie time.

So there is no way to play with someone lower level if they are in one of the expansions. The only place I can actually see her is regular old Azeroth, which she out leveled.

I don’t know if this is an oversight that Blizzard just doesn’t know about or doesn’t care about.

All I know is I cannot play Dragon Isles with her, there appears to be no way to accomplish this.

Is she on an account that has The War Within?

This has actually been happening to quite a few toons that had been through remix or had been boosted. I had a friend who had a remixed toon that could not even start the dragon isles because of the toon being level 70, and I wanted to level with them on a level 60 toon through DF… and they were phased. So it’s definitely sounding like a bug that needs to be looked into.

If your toon isn’t remixed, or boosted… yea it’s still something of a bug and still needs to be looked into. :frowning: I’m sorry you’re having the problem. the only way to get around that right now is to create a new toon to level with them. (it’s unfortunate, but the leveling tends to go quicker these days)

Sadly this isn’t a bug. Blizz did this a bit before TWW launched. They apparently don’t want higher level characters helping lower level ones in DF content. It’s stupid, and it takes away from the MMO part of the game. They most likely won’t be changing it anytime soon.

If you have feedback, you’d want to post it outside of the support forums. This place, namely CS, doesn’t have folks come here for feedback by anyone who can make changes. You can hit up the quest forum.

You dont need this expansion to level up in Dragonflight. What is happening sounds like a Phasing bug.

That was my thought as well. You should be able to quest in the same area but if one is farther along in the campaign the other person may need to catch up.

It’s hard to check right now with maintenance ongoing.

This happened to my daughter and myself the other evening. She needed help with a rare in Thaldrazus that was Dream boosted. She was level 52 and absolutely could not solo it due to the nature of the rare mechanics. I grouped up with her on my level 77 alt. When I got there, she was invisible to me. Mousing over her portrait said one of us was Timewalking. Well, obviously not me. I’m leveling in TWW.

She left and went back to Org to talk to Chromie. She was NOT in timewalking. There was no option to leave TW, only dialog options.

I hopped onto a level 66 alt and then we could group up normally. We still couldn’t down the rare though, so it was pointless.

There is something going on that is blocking alts that have entered TWW from helping out lower level players in Dragonflight.

I wonder if you both were at different points in the campaign that would cause a phase. It is unlikely to be intentional, as Reflection suggests.

I would definitely submit a bug report, possibly in-game from the characters experiencing the issue. That should allow specific character data to go to QA so they can look into it.

I was asking because I heard reports that chromie locks you out at different points based on if your account has TWW or not.

I never saw Chromie locking you in unless this is a new phase / or just bug that came alone with TWW for new players only. :woman_shrugging:

The reports I had heard were that the Chromie time levels were still at their DF vaules for accounts without TWW, and didn’t move to 70/71 until the account activated TWW.

Actually I just realized. Once you hit level 70 and try to do any quests in dragonflight… you can’t in a party. Once the OTHER person hits slevel 70 they will not be phased anymore… I had that happen to my rogue (lucerion) and a friend who was level 68./. once I hit level 70 (and we were questing in DF) … I phased immediately.

Thats because its kicks u outa chromie time between 68 and 70.

It appears to be an intended mechanic. It has been in the game since dragonflight. I was mad about back then and forgot about it until TWW released. I can group all I want with them in the old lands, but dragonflight is in it’s own chromie time for some reason. I have not tested BFA.

They just need party sync to pull you into the same time/phase, or whatever. Maybe they somehow overlooked that?

Not realy its working as intended older content been moved into chromie and you either need to be in chromie time at the same lvl or not in chrimie time. If you want a change post in the quest forum.
