Have been trying to do pet battles, but whenever I talk to an npc to start I get this, can’t do anything, can’t leave, can’t hit any buttons to do abilities:

Have you done a full UI reset (as detailed in Support article linked below) to rule out a misbehaving addon or corrupted UI?

Yes, I’ve done all of that… its broken… please fix… unable to do any pet battles even with the Pet Battle Trainers quests… Pet slots are all blocked out, can’t add any pets in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Pet Battle slots.

So you did a full UI reset, by deleting/renaming the WTF, Cache and Interface folders and launching the game at default settings?
Yes, and it all got figured out… apparently, you have to spend in game currency at the Pet Battle NPC to allow anyone to pet battle in the 1st place… cost is only 8 silver… my only question after 15 years of World of Warcraft is …WHY??? I had NO addons running at the time…My 1st attempt was with my level 21 Blood Elf Warrior, she could NOT even purchase the Pet Battling ability in Brill. Then, tried it on my level 50 Blood Elf Hunter over in Bloodhoof Village, that worked. Mine was NOT a “UI issue.” Problem now solved, thank you all <3 <3

I had this problem on a boosted character that had pets, but apparently had not yet “visited a battle pet trainer to learn how…”.
This thread died 4 years ago. Start a new thread rather than raising it from the dead.

Always a good thing to double check.
Given the age of this thread I’m going to lock it up. If someone has an issue that these steps aren’t helping with, feel free to create a new thread (if a bug, please post in the Bug Report forums to report it to our QA team).
