I just tried this and it didn’t work for me 
Perhaps there’s more than one bug causing the same issue.

Having same issue here. Can’t link mounts. Any word or fixes?
Did you try any of the suggestions in the posts above?
Past those, the answer is that there have not been any fixes announced.

Also make sure your chat window isn’t set to non interactive

I’m having this same issue. I tried all the steps above and even deleted/reinstalled WoW along with wtf/interface/config folders without luck.
It seems to be an issue that only my main character (this one) is having. It’s been going on for a couple of months now and I’m at a loss on how to fix it
