Boosts kind of feel like a Tik Tok Meme. I have adult money and I buy … with it. The last time I bought a fair few boosts was in Pandaria to get the heirloom weapons from SoO. I wasn’t in a raiding guild and there was no way I could have pugged for the weapons. I have a definite lack of raiding skill. I spent tons of gold but years later, I still think it was worth it.
PvE boosting no one cares. PvP boosting however ruins the game for many people.
I just bought a booster seat!
An undeniable strong correlation though.
As long as boosters are transparent about the fact that they’re inept at doing it otherwise though, then you do you.
The only reason I would ever boost in PvP would be for transmog. I have been tempted but I am honestly afraid of disappointing my booster. I kind of feel like that’s weird.
I wonder how WoW would feel if the only people playing were those who ran boosts and those who paid for boosts. At least nobody would be abusing anybody else for buying boosts and nobody would care what you did with your gold. Well, except the people you were paying to play the game for you.
Boosting reminds me of those old pc games where you discoved the ‘god codes’ where you could get unlimited gold and unlimited power. You were no longer actually playing a game, because there was no reason to.
Depends who you get at least you generally get your gold back if they can’t get you the rating you paid for
Don’t do it though. Its 100% possible to work towards it and get it and you’ll feel amazing having earned it. And next season it’ll be even easier to earn because you’ll be better as a player and feel more confident in your ability
I believe in you
Or you could get rid of boosting.
Yes, get rid of the WoW token.
Disagree with this one because everything you accomplish is quickly erased by the next patch.
If you have a look at how many members the largest boosting communities have on discord,
Then look at the total amount of mythic 10/10
Guilds there are this tier and then look at players with 2k raider io this season.
You can see it’s not far fetched to guess that every 10/10 mythic raider and every 2k raider io that is running keys consistently is most likely boosting for gold.
Also you must subtract a percentage for having bought 2k io
I think boosting is fun for a lot of people.
BUT
I think it would be false to say there isn’t something in game design driving people towards becoming boosters and there must be more demand now than ever.
A distinction without a difference for anyone using Real Money to Trade for a token. I guess since Blizzard is the dealer on the corner across the street it’s all good.
That’s okay.
I am embarrassed enough for you.
I can’t quite figure out if this is irony or hypocrisy.
Or good old fashioned idiocy.
At the least, it goes to show it doesn’t matter how far a human being has fallen, they will seek to be superior to someone.
It is. But not at the cost of the integrity of the game and how much it affects it:
- Constant trade chat spam
- Conditioned acceptance of the “perfect run = paid = ordinary” while normal players struggle
- The problems which rise with the above mentioned points, which ultimately reflects poorly on the game, the game’s economy and how boosting is seen as the only solution to advance.
Boosting has been always part of every game (even back in Diablo 1-times) but if it becomes the “2go” for everything, then something is irreversible destroyed.
Honestly I would boost if I had the gold to do so. But I refuse to buy gold with real money.
I will never again participate in real world currency influenced systems.
I started using boosts 2 weeks ago.
I have no interest in mythic+, I would raid if my job didnt have such a crazy schedule and risk being called anytime, so I cant commit to a guild.
My only access to 252 gear is gold. I can casually farm gold and/or buy tokens, play in the parts of game I find fun. And eventually get some high ilvl gear to make my casual life easy.
I hate boosting but not as much as I hate mythic +.
Hey- more power to you. You shouldn’t be ashamed. What you do with your money, and how you choose to play the game is nobody’s business but your own. The only people who care whether or not you boosted are low-life trolls looking to harass others.
We all play in our own ways. Speaking personally, I’m introverted and have social anxiety. So I don’t really engage in any of the “group” aspects of the game- I pretty much just play solo. No RPG. No duels. I’ll occasionally group up for a quest or dungeon, but that’s it. I’ve been told I’m “missing out” on so much of the game by doing so- and they’re right, I am- but who cares? I like the way I play and it works for me.
There’s no right or wrong way to play, so I say ignore the trolls, and you just do you
You’re fully entitled to your opinion. But I’m still gonna tell you that you should have gotten it yourself like an actual player in a video game would. Boosting’s a plague. You don’t help the issue by sitting here and pulling the snake move of trying to make it sound like you’re doing people a favor. You could just as easily put time and effort into playing well.
If they weren’t bad, they’da gotten it legitimately. If you buy a boost, your background means zero to me. I would take a 1400 hero aiming to learn and become better and go out of my way to teach them rather than find out you purchased 2400. I will never play with someone who does something like that.
As long as they watched Rose anvil first, there’s no shame.
You can keep taking the stairs, I’ll work in the lobby until I can get an elevator pass.
Blizzard has been reinforcing the elevator gameplay in this game.
Sure boosting was always a thing, but boosting in vanilla was like getting in an elevator pulled by other humans and ropes. Today It’s the golden elevator with mirror on the walls and nice music. There’s even a elevator pass at the entrance’s gift shop.
