Im in the mountains. Cell service can be spotty, but still exists. And as was mentioned, by Mute i think, an internet connection with wifi certainly does the trick.

Very succinct thank you. Guess I won’t ever be doing this. Did you know scammers like you to text them, like if your selling something on a market site, they don’t want an email they want a text so they can hack your phone.
I don’t know if they fixed that yet, but I do know it was vulnerability. Hmm…this just makes me think about the SMS text messaging ‘madate’. hmmmm…

Taking by the all caps and stuff, I think you are lying. If this is an attempt to troll, it is a bad one. It is easier for someone who really live in the mountains, or the jungle, or whatever, to have cell phone service than it is to have a decent internet to play WoW.
If you really lived in a place with no cell phone service, you probably would not be able to stay 5 minutes connected to the game.

Yep, they want a text so they can send a code to your number that’ll reset your account.
I’ve had it happen the first time I tried selling something on a market site while moving.

I also tried to sell something, someone responded they were interested, and tell me to text them my info, – not an email, quite ‘pushy’ about a ‘text’. Luckily someone told me this is a common ‘scam’ to hack your phone. I hope all is well for you now.

This is Bliss’s ‘response’ to the people complaining about the inundation of ‘accounts’ selling runs – annoying those who have to search through them in the LFG/pre-made ‘tool’. I never complained…just ignored them.
That is what this is about. It is not at all about protection of your account?
I have an Authenticator, but that is obsolete for this. I use it everyday to log in.
This logic to me is ‘tyrannical’. Because YOU accept something does not mean someone else must. Can’t wait when you make a choice for yourself and then are shamed, derided and put down because it doesn’t work for you - or you disagree.

Does the original physical authenticator work for getting in arena’s?
The problem with adding Sms to protect your account is that if you lose your phone or it is hacked in some way Blizzard now opens you up to losing your account much easier than if you had the authenticator by itself.
When one can’t log in, one can receive texts that can:
- Unlock the Blizzard account
- Remove a lost authenticator
- Recover the account name
- Approve a password reset
So the hacker or person who finds your phone can remove your authenticator get your account name and reset your password all by using sms and your autheticator no longer does anything to help you at all.
This is the opposite of improved security. Adding sms should not allow someone to do any of that without using your authenticator to prove it is you or else what is the point of an authenticator if SMS can bypass all protection on your account.
Plus why is Blizzard pushing something that reduces your security like SMS protect or whatever they are calling it now.

This is like literally the only game that requires a cell phone number to unlock a feature in the game. This whole thing is just awful. Still can’t enter titles in group finder myself.

You do know that requires an ID to do. I had to do it when my Keyfob died, Blizzard requested a copy of my ID to prove who I said I was.
The average phone-jacker won’t give 2 spits about your wow account, they are after personal information, banking, cash app and paypal access. Every idiot and the cousin uses their phones for that. They would have to specifically be targeting you if they wanted your wow account and it is more complicated to remove authenticators from your account. ALSO, if you know your phone is missing or lost, why are you not calling the cell company to brick it?
