They were talking about these class/race restriction removals last year and definitely hyped them up and got all passionate about it as they started making more things available…
Then radio silence for almost a full year.
And the first we hear on that is “Nothing for you at the moment.”
So not closing the book on it, but not even giving an inkling that it’ll happen.
I’m tired of every Shaman race being a look/feel I don’t really vibe with.
Would like to be a human shaped alliance , and the closest we get are goats or furless naval pandas…
I actually do want more people to be able to be Demon Hunters. I’d LOVE to make a Draenei demon hunter, for example.
As far as increasing which race can be what class… I am not fully against it; though the caveat for me would be that it’d have to be tied to lore well.
For example: giving non-primitive races Shaman should mean that that type of Shaman is considered an “Elementalist,” or something–a different type of mage which uses lightning instead of arcane.
Then, I’d be fine with Human, Blood Elf, Gnome, etc. being shaman.
OR, if they give us different tints for out abilities. A void elf paladin would have all of his abilities be void-imbued; a night elf paladin would have all of his abilities elune-colored (white/light-blue), etc.
i honestly don’t think the game needs more races/classes, the more they add, the less unique the older classes will become so they can make the new classes special, 13 classes and 23 races is enough for one mmo, maybe once the lore introduces new things that would justify another race or class maybe
Yeah, it stinks, but you know Blizzard employees are over worked and under paid, just like most people in this amazing country. What features or bug fixes would it cost us and what would it cost the dev team to put these out?
It’ll happen eventually at least, they haven’t walked back on that point.
That seems more than reasonable to me. Yes, it sounds a little bit like a politician padding their answers with useless information but it’s not necessarily wrong either.
It’s not like they can just change a 1 to a 0 to make paladins playable. First they have to actually decide on committing to it, especially because Paladins have their own racial mount.
Sure, they could just copy and paste an existing mount and change the hue filter a bit. But that would be unprecedented and would moreso show a lack of consistency between the two races.
So you follow into the next logical step, which is “okay just make a custom mount for paladins.” Sure, makes sense. But first the team has to decide when they’re going to do it in the first place.
Blizz never shares anything they can’t guarantee will happen. They are the ultimate “push me into a corner and I will deny any and everything” company.
