and it’s been fine so far in Shadowlands especially since mend pet is also buffed at level 52 with Mend Pet Rank 2 to compensate (bringing the overall healing to 50% of it’s health rather than 25% as in BFA)
not have had any of the same issues with my pets dying asap in SL as compared to BFA.
I understand that, of course, I just don’t think one’s arena rating is really a factor when discussing things like this. If we were talking about the meta for high rated arenas, sure, I’d be right there with you, show the chieves or you don’t know what you’re on about. But just general class stuff like this? Nah.
Hey, look at that, finally an actual substantive point. Which btw I kind of agree with. So many specs nowadays, even melee ones, have ranged stuff to poke you with. I wasn’t arguing hunter’s kiting ability makes them immortal gods or some nonsense like that, simply that they are good at kiting. That is all. Something that the comment I initially replied to claimed wasn’t the case.
It’s not… Not even close…
I’m pretty sure the point is that you don’t need to personally have a given rating in order to understand the theoretical capabilities of a spec’s toolkit.
Putting this in Starcraft terms, I can understand that a 2-medivac marine drop with +1/+1 Stim and Combat Shields in a Zerg’s main base can end the game at 6 minutes, but I don’t have the micro required to keep my Marines long enough to make it happen against an opponent of equal or greater skill. I am reliant on capitalizing on my opponent’s mistakes.
Does the fact that I am Silver 1 Terran in 1v1 mean I can’t watch progames and understand the theoretical capabilities of a player like Byun or Maru or TY?

maybe not at level 11, since base mend pet is only 35% in sl (just 10% higher than bfa), but at level 52 and higher, once you have access to mend pet rank 2 (50%), then your pet gets double the healing with mend pet as compared to bfa.
If I could choose my main profile, I would… It is at least higher lvl that your 50…
I play on eu so it’s impossible.
Just a hint, use rapid fire instead of aimed shot with your double tap
The pet will die like a wet paper bag in PVP, it needs help desperately there

Also don’t forget to mention that they should be zooming into the player as they use rapid fire to reduce their time to heal or defend against the channel by turning the 2 second damage window into a less than 1/2 second burst.
Especially deadly if you got an explosive shot primed before the rapid fire channel and/or follow up immediately by an instant burst damage trinket to all essentially go off within a <1 second window to overwhelm the player faster than a heal cast.
Agreed 100% – but with rating comes a more general understanding of your capabilities versus the capabilities of those you are fighting against.
It’s very hard to know the circumstances that could surround a person with an arena rating of, say 1300, when they are in a match and die. We don’t know the context, at all – whereas, depending on how high someone’s rating is, we can at least be somewhat more assured that there isn’t a tremendous skill gap between that player and the player they faced.
And you’re absolutely right that you can understand theoretical capabilities - but the likelihood that your opinion is absolutely wrong increases greatly the lower your experience is.
That said, and since I’ve only spoken common sense here, I’m just done with it. I won’t be back to reply to this thread.
That’s very subjective, there a lot of people who know this class far better than I do. (I was 2700 as survival last season in 3s) As I have really only played this class seriously for a little while in BC and this expansion. Typically there is a correlation with rating = class knowledge but its not all black and white.
I feel like kiting is a thing of the past for MM Hunters. Getting and keeping range is what I consider to be the definition of a successful kite. From my experience, assuming that I have a trinket, the best I can usually do is force a delay (sometimes delays) between the opponent’s uptime on me… unless it’s a DK without a grip or something.
Can’t get nerfed if you main survival!
4 sec pet rez is arguably a bigger nerf to SV than BM.
