Would it be too much to point out that the Legion was also fond of mind control and employed the very Nath’rezim that GAVE Arthas the Lich king his armor and Helm of Domination?
It’s very canon that Demons tend to really only come in two flavors: those naturally prone to causing chaotic devastation, and those who are not… the Legion enslaved many Demons who were unwilling to fight naturally, it is not too far of a leap to consider any Manari objecters were also enslaved.
“However rebellion against the Legion is heavily punished, normally with eternal torture, as was done to Lothraxion; forced submission as was done to Ner’zhul; or death as happened to Gul’dan.”
I unfortunately don’t take much of anything in Exploring Kalimdor seriously because I consider it an abomination of lore that manages to take shots at and undermine literally every race and group living on Kalimdor for whatever reason.
To a point, but Exploring Kalimdor is aggressive in a way that stands out from other lore weirdness. Only the Mag’har recruitment scenario is higher up for ‘uh, what were they smoking and do they need an intervention’ for me when it comes to the writing. It also somehow manages to be offensive in a real world sense.
Because, while I know it can get tiring, on Azeroth Elves have been around for a long long time. They have had some of the largest empires and are definitely one of the most influential race(s). Humans, on the other hand, have been infuential as all get out but have been around comparatively shorter.
If we are on the lore subreddit it is likely going to tie back to older times which will, inevitably, concern Elves, Trolls, and a smattering of other gorups.
Unreliable narrators narrate unreliably.
We know that night elves used Azeroth’s blood to overpower all of their enemies.
We know that there was never another night warrior on Azeroth. Blizzard hasn’t released them, no name, nothing. It’s easy to trick trolls, but it is, again, telling that Maiev cannot remember the biggest champion of night elves ever to exist that she would have been alive to meet.
Oh, hell no.
I said that she was a night warrior.
You told me she didn’t retain night warrior status past beta.
You don’t get to play both lines. Furthermore, Shadowlands has night warriors from multiple foreign worlds.
It could be and is probably as simple as “Elune told nelves and Lunalai trolls about a Night Warrior on another world, but they were young races (at the time / not an immortal demi god race like nelves are) and did not comprehend the idea of another world.”
The Night Elves don’t remember coming from Dark Trolls. The High Elves remembered they came from Night Elves, so transformation obviously does not involve memory loss. The Night Elves have longer history than they have recorded, and so obviously Maiev is not as old as to have been around when the first Night Warrior was.
I’m a solid 90% certain that Dragon Isle was in there.
I’m rereading it now just to point out your Cenarius paragraph was after the night elves – incnluding lowborne – agreed with Azshara that all races were lesser and beneath them as they all – including lowborne – went out to expand her empire.
You would be 100% incorrect. Chronicle only mentions Wyrmrest:
The keepers also sought to create a new species to help the Dragon Aspects protect the world. These beings would serve the Aspects as consorts and allies. To this end, the keepers magically altered hundreds of proto-dragon eggs. From them would emerge creatures born in the image of the Aspects. This new race, known as dragons, would form five distinct flights: bronze, red, green, blue, and black.
Though each of these flights would serve a different Dragon Aspect, they would all be bound by their duty to protect Azeroth. To strengthen this bond, the keepers forged a grand tower in northern Kalimdor called Wyrmrest Temple. It would serve as the heart of the dragons’ culture, a sanctuary where they could gather and discuss their activities. But above all, Wyrmrest would stand as a symbol of their unity.
Wyrmrest is culturally pretty barren compared to the Dragon Isles.
I can’t ctrl F my copy, but that seems pretty bizzarre given the dragon isles have been canon since WC3 and even had work done in warcraft vanilla.
I’m not saying you’re lying,
but I am saying you tried to say that Blizzard creating named places and putting them in the game to canonize them is the same as Blizzard not making a named character or telling us anything about them beyond legends after Danuser told us that all characters are unreliable narrators.
