I know I’ll get hate for this as most of the posts around here are anti-BFA but as this expansion ends I have to admit I loved probably 90% of it. Granted things were off to a rocky start at first with Azerite being horribly imbalanced, but overall the systems this expansion were great. The multiple paths for progression was absolutely my favorite part of this expansion as I no longer have a fixed schedule I can dedicate 3-4 hours a day to raiding for.
Azerite (after it was finally fixed) was also fantastic as it constantly forced you to shift your playstyle and learn new systems as you got upgrades. Essences for the most part removed cookie-cutter builds as they allowed multiple essence/talent/azerite setups to work even among the same specs. Even corruption was nice in theory, as you had to take downsides to get upsides, and was only broken in the way these buffs were implemented with RNG (corruption should have been flat stat-sticks).
Even titanforging was fine with me as it allowed me to play with my friends in lesser dungeons with the (small) chance of me actually getting an upgrade. Also, as per usual the art was great, the story was decent, and we got what? 8 new races? That’s unheard of for a single expansion. Now I know there was plenty of things wrong with this expansion, but overall I’d give it a solid 9.2/10. That’s why I’m so excited about Shadowlands, it looks like it takes all BFA’s systems, removes the crappy/broken part of it and leaves us with just the good stuff.
I dunno maybe I’m too easy to please but every time I logged into to WoW during BFA I had stuff to do and I rarely found myself running in circles around Dalaran like I used to do in other expansions.
You’re not alone in your opinion. I didn’t mind BFA, I do wish that the Nzoth stuff was a seperate xpac to the faction war. That was my biggest gripe with BFA, it felt like the faction story was cut short to ram the Nzoth stuff in. Other than that, liked the zones, the catch up mechanics, the variety of things to do, I even liked warfronts, sure you out geared them quickly and they became auto win, but they were still fun to do and you could play it differently each time. Push the points, resource gather, use the altar of kings powers, hunt rarest, etc…
I’m glad you enjoyed the expansion. There are some MASSIVE inaccuracies in your post, but regardless, I genuinely am happy that some people enjoyed it. It is a game after all.
Bfa Was a good experience for me. Only regret I have is not sitting down and farming out the brutosaor.
I think they waited to long to get part 2 of pathfinder. But k wish we could just get it from day 1. I’m fine with the requirements needed to get it. But not the x amount of time waiting for the patch to have second part available.
Once essences were out, Azerite was fixed and the corruption vendor was added, I’d give it a solid 7/10. At the start though and pre- corruption vendor? 4/10
All in all, still had loads of fun and BoD was a fantastic raid.
Honestly WoD was better because what it did have was good. Pvp and pve balance was good. Classes we fun. Leveling was great. No borrowed power. Raids and dungeons were good. It did lack content, but I’ll take that over the crap shoot that is bfa. Gcds make classes unfun. Balance is awful. 3 borrowed power systems? Some good raids and dungeons, but overall a mess.
I’ll take a little good content with fun classes over a lot of bad.
Totally fair! Although I do disagree with your information and opinions… It is a game, and as long as you’re having fun, that’s amazing! I wish I enjoyed it as much as you did.
Anyone who didn’t obsess over titan forging and junk like that could enjoy some of what BFA had to offer. The questing was fun. Mechagon was neat (and some I guess enjoyed Nazjatar).
But overall it does feel like a very run of the mill, mediocre expansion. No big game changes…no lasting power…bleh.
I had a great time in BFA I have no complaints lol. Maybe too much RNG but I dont see an issue with this expansion at all and the people who are complaining are big babies
It’s not my favorite expansion but I also didnt think BfA was as bad as some people say either.
It had plenty to do, I liked warfronts and islands and none of the classes I played felt bad.
The major problem I have with it is that azerite armor is horribly unsatisfying. Corruption, while I do like how they just said screw it and gave us op stuff to play with at the end of the expansion, the random nature of obtaining it was also unsatisfying. Would have preferred if corruptions just dropped and you could apply them to gear.
How do I love WoW? It’s basically all about Dungeons and Raids.
BFA’s Mythic + was the best. From Freehold, Waycrest Manor to Tol Dagor and Shrine of the Storm, they were amazing. Even Mechagon megadungeon was fun.
And the Raids are fun too. The theme and Boss mechanics were amazing. Remember G’huun and even Jaina… it was awesome. N’zoth is also awesome. I may be biased. But playing a very mobile Class like my BM Hunter on this fast pace on the move fights, I had a Blast. Any fights where BM Hunter could show off its mobile superiority is an A to me. Add Corruptions to a very mobile BM Hunter, it becomes perfect. 8.3 was among my best Season… where BM Hunters shine. Nzoth was so easy that I ate him for breakfast. LOL. Want my carry?
BFA supports Casuals who are not noobs. It eliminated gold farming thru inclusion of 4k gold on Paragon Chest. And you could get 3x Paragon Chests per week just by doing your 15min Daily Chores… not hours.
And BFA supports time gating. It allows Casuals to relax… take their time on stuffs… confident that they wont be left behind my no life’rs as Time Gating is on their side.
I was a Hardcore No Life player before but playing Casual now. Legion and BFA are among the best Casual-friendly Expansion. It allows Casuals to become badazz.
I hope Shadowlands would follow the same… awesome dungeons and Raids allowing highend content doable by Casuals.
I loved the class design of a small percentage of specs with certain Azerite traits, like Shrouded Suffocation Assassin Rogues, and Light’s Decree Ret Pallies.
Everything else from BFA was terrible, especially the class design for most specs.
I love the zones of Kul Tiras more than anything. Boralus will be my favorite city for a long time. I thought new Dalaran of legion was my love but this rustic fishing port city stole my heart with it’s charms and secret streets and bars.
