I’m having a discussion And need you guys to settle it

The alliance; does it consider all of its races as equals? Yes or no? And why?

Of course not.

There are Humans. And then everyone else.

If they weren’t Equal, some races would be treated as second class citizens. That isn’t being shown in game.

Even when Tyrande came to Anduin, he genuinely wanted to help, but he didn’t have the manpower. It wasn’t about not wanting to help the Night Elves, it was about a simple matter of not enough manpower.

Long ago when they did a chain of quests about reclaiming gnomeregan, the Alliance, pretty much as a whole, was there to help in some form.

The Worgens were helped escape their sinking land by the Night Elves. The only reasons the others didn’t help was the Night Elves were the first to respond. Also, Anduin places great trust in Genn.

The Dwarves have no problems with the Gnomes having a chunk of their city to live in.

The Gnomes are of course likewise happy the Dwarves were willing to help them out.

When Moira returned to being a big name, the Alliance went to help her against threats facing Ironforge.

That’s just a few things off the top of my head on things they’ve done for each other.

Now individual members … they may have different amounts of trust toward the other races. But that’s individuals. We’re talking the collective whole.

The primary reason why they’ve allied under the Humans is quite simple. It’s a matter of population, that and they are a group who will not be biased toward or against any race that is part of the Alliance.

EDIT: Akston’s comment can just as nastily be returned on the Horde. “There are Orcs, then there’s everyone else.” Until recently when it became all about the Forsaken.

The point is, the story we see focuses too exclusively on Humans AND Orcs. That doesn’t mean the other races are seen as second class citizens, simply that they don’t do enough storylines for all the races.

Well, this is a video game, if they didn’t consider, WoW would have been cancelled at this point.

Yes. Humans are clearly first among equals because Stormwind founded this Alliance and provides most of its equipment and manpower. I think all this indicates is that there’s an expectation for Stormwind’s leader to also lead the Alliance, which can be directly juxtaposed with the Horde’s continual power struggles.

It depends on the individual alliance member, probably.

Anduin Wrynn? He considers everyone equal and worthy of redemption. Probably don’t need to look far to find a Stormwind citizen who wonders why Anduin doesn’t focus on humans first.

Draenai here. Been living in SW for the past 13 years. Other than a brief period where people gave me hell for being a death knight, I’ve had no trouble with discrimination.

Of course they are all equal.

The Alliance is a group of nations banding together to defend their lands and common values. No one would join if they didn’t feel they where equal, or they felt that another race’s values superseded their own.

Pretty sure some NEs out there think the Alliance didn’t do enough to avenge the bonfire we held for them off the coast of Darkshore. Unappreciative!

I don’t think Tyrande was resentful about Anduin not having the forces to spare. She just didn’t want to have to wait.

Oh i was definitely talking about players, not the NPCs in game.

Hmmmm. This strikes me as suspect.

I would say no, because of the “High King” title.

Other races and non Stormwind Humans in the Alliance seem to grovel at the feet of Stormwind Kings but that could also mean the Stormwind Humans are the most powerful Alliance race.

Authority and respect are not the same thing.

The High King has the authority to direct the Alliance’s military. That does not mean Humans are above the other races. It means the person trusted with the Alliance’s military happens to be human.

no, there is definitely some discrimination

i can’t walk into a lot of buildings without a leash and i can’t even sit in a chair without people shooing me off

don’t even get me started on stormwind animal control

Your fetish is not representative of the faction as a whole.

Its always Humans running the show in the Alliance. The Orcs used to run the show in the Horde until Uncle Thrall went all Progressive on us and made us worse. We haven’t recovered from the time he ditched us to saving the planet :disappointed:

Orcs have become a afterthought in the Horde now and all the other races ever talk about is Orc privilege, SMH.

Well that’s because the Alliance was founded as a human organization, which they later invited the other races to.

You don’t get invited to someone else’s club and then get put in charge.

Well actually you might, but it’s far from a given.

Don’t think so. If it did, there would have been more immediate action to assist the night elves during Teldrassil. There would have been an actual active effort to assist the gnomes in retaking Gnomer.

The Alliance is “humans and friends”. That’s it.

No.

Humans are inherently bad people.
