Huokan community getting ridiculous

inb4 authenticator, phone number and google account required to speak on public channels

Created a toon on Sargeras-Alliance, I know it is a large pop. So that is why I picked it. Trade Chat was dead! The only thing I saw was Huokan ads. When I finally found a guild I was told that the majority of players in Sargeras don’t use or block trade chat because of them.

That is really sad.

Your opinion.

Trade Spam has existed since day one in this game. It’s had different variations, but it’s always existed. My server is aggressively advertised, and yet we all still use trade and are able to get stuff done. It is what it is.

The thing is they spam ads over and over. I was waiting for a PvP que and within 3 minutes repeated the same ad 4 times!

it isn’t toxic behavior - blizzard said they can advertise on trade and they are. you just don’t like it and on that server what you are missing on trade chat that they are replacing I just don’t know.

there is general - people can use. trade has always been for trade

Spam isn’t healthy, irl or in game lmao

what isn’t healthy is not being able to control your own behavior when it makes you unhappy - just turn off trade if it bothers you that much.

idk how anyone could afford them. Not sure if the chart i saw online was correct but i saw their price list and it was insane, I’ll just stay bad at the game before i ever shell out multiple hundreds of dollars in equivalence.

i have half my toons still on deathwing and my active toons on Tichondrius, you see like 0 ads on small servers.

My behavior is fine, I don’t think i’m out of control at all. This is some demeaning talk.

So one thing I noticed is wow is the worst when it comes to boosting and boost spam. Eso you see it occasionally in the zone chat (not spammed) in ffxiv I think they blocked it all together or made it to where the buyer says it as “want to clear x y z content offering reward.” I haven’t seen it in old school or new runescape but… how would that work?

Why is it so bad in wow specificly? Each other game has its own zones chat. There may be 20 adds going off but since there are several zone chats, you may only see 1 or 2 here and there. Trade chat is for trade, however, over doing the advertising especially when technically only 1 add is ever needed is overkill. I don’t mind boosting to a degree, however, the spam is bad. I had a new player ask me (since I’m a guide) “are houkan guys bots? They look like bots!”

To a new player, I could see that. Starlight boosting I don’t see too many adds same with nova and they are all gold communities too but why is houkan so bad at their spam?

Sure I could turn trade off or get an addon. That’s a bandage solution. Maybe limit how many from one group can advertise at one time and how much. Like 1 message every 5 minutes and limit 3 boosters per organization for trade chat. Cause you only need about 3 every 5 minutes to get the message across. Boosting will never go away, but the spam and the appearance of new accounts made just to spam trade is horrible. Almost all houkan boosters have the little newcomer murloc on thier head.

you claimed it wasn’t healthy - you were given alternatives to download addons or leave trade channel. For what reason, will you do neither then if isn’t a lack of control?

The problem will persist whether I leave trade channel or not, it’s a problem that many are concerned about and have expressed. It has nothing to do with “my behavior” or “lack of control.”

so what if blizzard does nothing about it - will you still engage in what you consider unhealthy behavior and be concerned about the spam on trade? or will you take charge of your own happiness and just download an addon or leave trade?

I just leave Trade chat. I mean, It’s not used for actual trading So I’m not missing out on anything.

You’re fine. She is a troll. Anyone okay with spamming is bs and they are just trying to get to you.

Didn’t houkan get in trouble in November cause they had thier advertisers use auto hot key in order to advertise on a script? I saw something on reddit about that.

Edit: Nov of last year (oops forgot what today is and forgot to mention which NOV lol)

no I am trying to understand someone who claims that it is toxic behavior and is willing to make themself unhappy/sick because of it when they have simple solutions at hand.

Blizzard told those guys they can advertise on trade. I am extremely doubtful they will say no you can’t now, especially since they are still trying to get it out of the LFG system.

They can advertise within the rules but the rules are using new accounts for the sole purpose of advertising can be shut down. Thier TOS reflects that and a majority of houkan boosters use accounts just for boosting. So, wouldn’t that mean in order to boost they would need an account that doesn’t have the newcomer status on it to advertise within the tos? Cause a Murloc icon means new bnet too not just new wow account. Now just cause they can be shut down doesn’t mean they are, but why use a new bnet account to advertise? If it’s in the rules, should be able to do it on your normal account or a second account on the same bnet, like other boosting community members do in other communities.

Thier tos also reflects excessive chats, or spam. Sure, person could turn off trade and use an addon but if things were fixed right to start with, wouldn’t need to. That’s a bandage fix for spamming toxicity created by 1 group non stop spamming 24 hours a day. Ignore does nothing… . The ignore isn’t for a whole bnet. That one gets silenced or closed they just make another on the same bnet and keep going, bypassing ignore. Leaving trade on some servers does nothing. They go to general chat cause trade is too full… The addons are bypassed by changing words. No one uses trade for anything other than boosting purposes anymore on most servers. I think ally stormrage still uses trade… I think. Should just name trade to boost chat and general just be the new trade by that logic.

well the solution is to report the people who you figure are breaking the rules in this manner and blizzard will investigate.

I am rather doubtful those if those people actually only use entire accounts just to advertise on trade. All it takes is for them to play one character even a boosted one and they can’t be sanctioned on that basis.
