I was just in a BG and got popped with a multishot while stormstriking him, no one else around

I suppose that might be possible if he targeted someone else.
The fact you could stormstrike him while outside melee range just shows how busted melee leeway is, not hunter range.
And yes, hunter range is now 6-41 yds (with hawk eye)
It’s now no longer possible to melee a hunter to death outside their melee range while they also cannot shoot you.

Dead zone yes, but if they are in melee range they still can’t fire.

This is what it is. We shoot right up until we’re able to melee and it switches to that
