Hunter is one of the hardest classes to maximize dps. Both cost wise and skill wise.
Sure its easy to do decent dps. But to be at the top of what is possible? That isnt easy. No clips, melee weaving, maximizing mana to oom right as the boss dies, etc. And cost wise we use ammo, consunes for ourself, buff pet with consumes, etc.
It gets complicated quick.
So we agree, You are the Hunter - not the pet. The pet is controlled by AI, and coding. Not by you.

Thereâs the fact that BM is an absolute laughing stock in Classic outside of the wildly overtuned SoD runes for it, and everything else. Youâd never be BM in classic era - ever.

Base damage and scaling are the issues hunters face.
And at lvl 40 everyone will be scaling but hunters. We are already seeing this issue as casters close the gap, and melee are starting to pass hunters.
And that is the problem. You are unprepaired.
