There have been a few of Hunter pets that are no longer available.

One that I wish I’d gotten is the Grimtotem Spirit Wolf. That pet is what led Blizz making Spirit Beasts and various challenging pets to tame.

I thought that they brought the spirit wolf back but under another name in Cata under the Twilight Highlands rare.
I feel that though - I’ve never been big on hunter pets that are time sensitive because I never played one. I more so meant things like elite mogs. Which is why Sno means so much to me I think. I got my very first hunter 2k+ achievements with him.
I’m a Nelf, so I mostly go with with cats for the Prowl. Kind of silly to be in Shadowmeld when my pet is waving “Hi!” to every passerby.

The Grimtotem Spirit Wolf is classified as a Wolf, not a Spirit Beast, so it’s still unique even if it’s appearance doesn’t stand out as much anymore.
i really like the mana cats (pashya and myonix) for their spirit beast abilities–they can heal if they need to, and iirc, they can heal allies too. and i think they have the tank ability so they can take a lot of hits, plus they’re not too big that they get in the way of things.
and also i just i think they look really cool lol
i like playing a hunter bc i love collecting pets, even tho once i got the mana cats i havent really used any other pets lol. i really like being a beast master for the unique pet opportunities

I love that new model, I’m just so sad the non mana versions of it are so… lackluster.
yeah i feel that. i was a little disappointed when they nightborne hunter starter pet looked. kinda sad, and poorly textured. haven’t played that one in a while but ive always enjoyed the glowiness of the spirit beast mana cats, and the unique coloring that pashya and myonix have
I prefer smaller pets… also my hunters have an OCD thing where their pets have to match. Farming two Ghostcrawlers was time consuming lol.

Same. It’s insanely cool that I can rez, cast Heroism, or walk on water with the right pet. I can’t think of another class with that much flexibility in their kit.
Loque’nahak is my absolute favorite. The fact that I can’t use him any longer as an actual pet outside of solo content irks me to no end. But at least he’s still with me in group content as my “second pet.”

Having a goblin survival hunter - are there any mechanical pets I can tame? I’m looking through Petopia but no luck yet. Oh, wait…
Love all the Spirit Beasts and have most of them but will go after pets that are absolutely beautiful to me. Krubbs was my recent acquisition and just love him.

Honestly, for my BM hunter, running with the dual Hatis is my favorite. I was so happy when they brought Hati back after Legion, and especially giving the different color versions to be tamed.
On my Void Elf Survival hunter, I really wish there were more “void-y” pets available to tame.
