There is a convoluted workaround to bypass the issue. I believe you have to go to a trainer, fully reset your build, spec your selected pet to cunning and then you will be able to switch it to Ferocity/Tenacity.
It is absolutely ridiculous they managed to break this and even moreso that it has not been addressed yet. While the above fix works for ânormalâ pets, BM hunters wanting to use exotic pets are most likely simply out of luck until it gets fixed.

Workaround didnât work for me - Beastmaster is utterly useless atm.

If this isnât fixed before MoP goes live, MoP is a flop. They need to quit hyper focusing on PvP balance and actually fix game breaking bugs first.

How so? Getting close to launch date and they havenât even acknowledged the bug or said a fix was in the works. A significant portion of the Hunter class system currently does not workâŚBM hunterâs especially stand to have a significant handicap come launch due to a bug with the game. Yet all you see on forums and X is talk of PvP, Honor, Resilience changes every a few daysâŚ
There are more aspects of MoP than PvP. The core of the game needs to work correctly first.

what forums are you looking at that are only about pvp? and if anything the hunter stuff messes with pvp more than anything since you cant get your freedom with a cunning pet since that seems to be messed up and i play bm and it works fine? are you talking about the spirit beast stuff? that doesnt do anything extra for you in terms of damage you are making ant hills seems like mountains with this stuff âmop is a flop if they dont fix this one tiny issueâ not everything is the end of times it will be fixed just chill out and go outside maybe and take a break from wow and the forums

Same here for me. Actually did the workaround and lost a current pet specilization. Waiting for it to be fixed.
I wouldnât call this a tiny issue, as hunters will be expected - especially in 10m - to supplement raid buffs based on pet family class⌠and if a petâs âbaseâ is cunning, then you presently have to do content with the pet as that spec - not ferocity, which is a considerable dps loss.
it may not be the apocalypse, but it is kind of a big issue for hunterâs being unable to use any pet, for any buff, in any pet specialty

The devs seemingly have been hyper focused on PvP balance on a macro scaleâŚtoying with resilience and honor gains repeatedly. Meanwhile there are class bugs that havenât been acknowledge by a dev or mentioned by anyone at Blizzard. With less than 2 weeks to go before launch, this is a disservice to affected classes. At least tell us you are aware of the issues and a fix is in the works.
Iâm on board with this position. Hunter pets need some attention, as stated above.
Probably just me, but it sure seems to me the pre-patch has produced quite a few bugs. With just over a week to MoP I sure hope Blizz can make some noticeable corrections.

You obviously donât pvp as a hunter. Roar of sacrifice (cunning) is one of the best pvp defensive cdâs in the game. Not being able to get a certain pet specâd as cunning affects pvpers a lot.

i havent had any issues swapping any pet into ferocity aside from spirit beast so i dont see the point in this
The fact youâve had the problem with ANY pet is a problem. And it 100% affects more than just spirit beast for many huntersâŚthey need to fix this before launch. If they fail to correct this before launch, they will likely lose many players set on being a hunter.

yea idk i guess maybe the 10 hunters i know are the lucky ones and it doesnt effect us doing damage lol
yea me and the few i know are all me so me as a group must be lucky
The bug didnât start happening until week 2 of prepatch. If you already had you pets specs set before then and havenât had to change them since you wouldnât run into the problem. But for any new pets or even changing specs on a currently specâd pet it can break.

Not quite. Their hotbars still donât remember custom placement of abilities.
