In a recent hotfix aimed at correcting an issue with Augmentation Evokers and their damage logging, we adjusted how Hunter pet damage is calculated. A side effect of this was that Hunter pet attacks started scaling with weapon attack power, increasing the damage of a Hunter pet’s special attacks by about 32.5% at 450 item level. The side effect is something we would like to retain, as it means that Hunter pet damage will now benefit from weapon upgrades.
We’re currently testing the following hotfix, and intend to apply it to all realms as soon as possible today:
Kill Command, Bite, Claw, Smack, Flanking Strike, Froststorm Breath, and Burrow Attack damage reduced by ~25%.
After this hotfix goes live, it will be added to our next Hotfixes Update.
If you dont want us to play the class just delete it. even after the dps ‘bug’ were still middling on damage, stop making our crap single target class underperforming literally every other dps in wow and do a full pass or stop screwing with it
“BM was not nerfed. For the last ~24 hours or so, it has been bugged to be much stronger than it should be. This “nerf” fixes that. It also announces that pet attacks will scale with weapon damage now, which could actually be positive (but is likely just neutral, TBD). You will simply not be broken and overpowered anymore, you’ll just be ordinarily good/upper quartile/A-tier like before 24 hours ago.”
Lets think about the numbers and the real problem. Pet is 78% of the damage. Tier adds extra special attack obeying pet. 3(78/2) = 117. too strong, lets nerf all hunters 25% cause we didn’t think about that. 117*0.75 = 87.5%
While it sounds reasonable to keep tier from running away in damage, it was so short sighted to kick the ones without tier while they were down, having not got it yet. Could have “taken away” much less from far fewer players by simply saying the tier set obeys at 1/3rd power. starting the same 78%. 0.33(78/2)+78=90.87%
A 3% diff but the change in PR and perception is massive.
