Hunter lone wolf rune

I think… You just turned the Hunter into a Warlock.

Made a post a while ago about Hunter runes ideas if you wanna take a look!

It’s a DPS loss over taking literally no rune at all, that’s how bad it is.

Lone wolf
Ranged attack power now converts to X% spell power
Ranged critical hits apply peicing shots, causing the target to bleed for 30% of the damage

Disengage now causes the hunter to cleanse all CC and jump back. Cd increased to 20 seconds.
Concusive shot CD reduced to 4 seconds or duration increased to 8 seconds

I am assuming traps will have their own rune to make them useable outside of combat.

Disengage would be so sick in SOD. Id happily cast my pet aside for disengage and a trap launcher. Give me the MOP disengage which heals hunter for 10 percent HPS too pls

Just have lone wolf get rid of the deadzone without changing damage. Then it’s an interesting trade.

pets should just lose the frontloaded burst (main complaint in the forums about pvp with scorpids and windserpents) and just do bleeds/dots/higher hitting whitehits to compensate damage over time.

I agree, add deep wounds to every class.

Homies, they aren’t capable of fixing Lonewolf.

If they were I think they would have already seeing as how it was and still is the only rune that literally nerfs you. I still run LW/Chimera/Flanking and don’t plan on changing, but I’ve given up on them polishing the turd they created in copy/pasting retail LW into classic as if there aren’t countless differences between how hunters work in retail vs. classic.

The issues are too massive. Pet alone is way more than 15%, and then there’s its utility, and then there’s Heart of the Lion. They simply don’t have the imagination required to solve this in an actual good way, and if they did we would have never gotten this pathetic retail LW to begin with.

At best they will 0-effort retail-brain it, increase its %modifier, and then we’ll just have to deal with another wave of rerolled hunter scrubs.

70 days of being unable to fix a rune that others come up with multiple ideas for in 5 minutes, and this is their job lol.

So you think removing all pet utility and damage to change ranged minimum range from 8 yards to 5 is a good trade? Do you realize how much utility and damage you are trading for that 3 yards…

Lone wolf would still be a dead rune.

With existing 15% buff.

AI simulations of weaving always do more damage than player. Without deadzone that gap would be extremely narrow. It would be virtually non-existent at 99 parse, which is what we use to measure effectiveness, apparently.

No its not. That’s just idiot-proofing ranged which isn’t at all what’s needed.

Lone Wolf
When you do not have an active pet:
-Deal 15% increased damage.
-Double the bonuses gained from the Agility stat.
-You can now trap in combat.
-Remove the deadzone of ranged abilities.

Also for all of those who are talking about a disengage ability to jump backwards, while i like the idea, they specifically said that they do not want to introduce push back abilities into SOD such as Typhoon or Thunderstorm etc…

It isnt a push back. It is a jump back.

One effects the enemy, one only effects yourself.

Its essentially the same thing but one is on yourself and the other is affecting ennemies. Im not saying that they wont do it but i just doubt they will start adding displacement abilities that are affected by gravity unlike charge for example that is a targeted ability or shadowstep etc

One of them has a very toxic interaction with enemy players and cliffs. The other will only kill the hunter on a mistake.

yeah well i think the main reason it wont happen is due to technical limitations of classic but hey maybe they can pull it off, it would be by far the best for ranged hunter spec for sure.

Lone Wolf

Damage increased by 20% while no pet is active.

Traps can now be used in combat.

Some abilities change while Lone Wolf is active.

Disengage is now a jump back, 30 second cooldown.

Serpent Sting now deals 100% WD when applying. Cannot occur more than once per 8 seconds.

Arcane Shot cooldown reduced by 1 second and deals 50% more damage.

Multi-Shot mana cost reduced by 33% and hits 2 additional targets.

Rapid Fire cooldown reduced by 1 minute.

Trueshot Aura increases Crit of Hunter/Party members by 3% (LOTP style) as well as it’s normal effect.

… A man can dream even if it’s heavily loaded.

Turtle boss already has a knockback. So it isnt a limitation of the ability being in game as it is already there.

Being the fact you lose the utility of a pet, your pet is 20-30% of your damage, and you give up Heart of The Lion for both you and your team, 15% damage far from cuts it. Bump it up to 20% damage and attack speed, additionally, reduce damage taken by 15%.
