So hear me out, I think it’s about time we get rid of this ridiculous melee spec for Hunter’s and turn Survival into a Healing Spec. I makes more sense. Hunter’s are survivors and a huge part of that is being able to take care of yours and other wellbeing.
I seriously would love to see a Hunter healing in Raids!

“Survival” sounds like the name of a healing spec.

It’s magic, we can do anything. But, we already have a bandage shooter in Engineering…

In SWTOR, the non-force-sensitive healing classes work by spraying people with kolto.

I would love to see added specs like this instead of a class. We need variety and classes to feel alive again. Hunters with a healing and tank spec. Warriors with a ranged spec. Warlock with a tanking spec and or healing spec. The options are limitless if they can come up with the right ideas.

It could be like the old first aid triage quest from back in the day, where you run around bandaging people.

Our pets can even provide protective abilities to reduce damage. Oh, the possibilities!

It does feel ridiculous that we have a singular combat heal for 30%… and shield that takes us out of combat and doesn’t even block all damaging affects (like ground AOEs). Is it really that hard to be imaginative and depict us with a survival kit like healing abilities? Maybe make some of the PVP abilities part of the PVE rotation with improved versions? Like the bandage ability SV has but baseline and PVE… and maybe make dragonscale armor protect from both magic and other stuff for damage reduction as a PVE talent?

I think we should focus more on what draws players to the class in the first place over variety for variety’s sake.
I would first not repeat the mistakes made in Legion. Deleting specs is a terrible idea.
Second, I would bring back an updated modern ranged survival as a fourth spec. I don’t believe a healing hunter will have wide appeal to justify it over something we know was popular.

That’s for sure, DPS shouldn’t have heals at all.
I will say that the healer class ive always wanted to see in other games was Rift’s Chloromancer.
Basiclly its a DPS class that applies spore type debuffs to mobs that return health when attacked by DPS classes and other AOE heals as well.
Its the only healer class i actually enjoyed playing even if healing instances was rough with it as a main healer due to lack of direct heals. Was fun as hell.

They have that pvp talent that heals. Just add a couple more.
Makes sense to me. I approve.
I disapprove of getting rid of the melee spec. It’s fun to me, and only cowards attack from range!

… and how exactly is that going to work? Both lore and gameplay wise that’s a terrible idea, why would hunters; who are called masters of survival in extreme environments, not have damage mitigation/healing abilities? Druids, Warriors with shields and combat training, etc…
Yet, we already have damage mitigation and healing abilities. Some we can actually use on other players…
So you expect a healer to be on standby in every zone simultaneously? Not exactly convenient or a very realistic expectation? Not only is that unrealistic, it’s arguably not lore supported. DPS classes hybrid or pure have heals for a reason, both in lore and for mechanics’ sake.
I selfishly don’t want a tank or healer spec for Hunters because I hate both of those roles and I like that there’s a 3/24 chance that we will have a DPS spec that is completely bonkers.
Also, I never want to be asked, “can you heal?” because I hate healing and the answer will always be nope!
We need a Warrior healer spec. I run up to you and nail a bandage on your woonz with Earthshaker…or I hit you so hard over the head that you forget the pain in your foot.
I think Survival could make a great emotional support spec if they let other players /pet our animals like you can /pet Gertie Jr. My Mawrats can give out kissies.
Doggo… lick that persons wounds…
