Looking for tips or advice to see if I am missing something. I have a 70 BM hunter with okay gear. 4 piece Beast Lord, 3 piece Primal Strike, epic gun from HH.
My dps on this character is behind most people in groups. I have a shaman, warlock and mage that all out dps this guy buy 300+ points on the meters.
I am doing the 1:1, know not to clip, have thrown in multi when available and still seem to be doing lower dps than the other similar geared people in the group. I have about 2K AP and 20% crit when buffed with 7% hit or so.
Any idea what I might be doing wrong? The rotation seems so simple. Charge steady shot as auto is going, fire steady right after auto goes.
Anyway, just looking for something I might have missed.
I’m no expert because I don’t do much PvE. But you have Weaponswingtimer or something like it to watch for when auto is charging? I haven’t got into this at all but my belief is you want to let 2 or 3 auto shots when rapid fire is up in betwen trying to Steady because otherwise trying to do 1:1 you are running into GCD issues. The autos are happening so quickly at that point you can’t fit a Steady in between every one.
At unhasted levels you don’t want to 1:1. You want to do the so called “French” 5:5:1:1 rotation. This means simply fitting in multishot and arcane shots after your steadies.
And as the above poster said at high haste levels (i.e. when rapid fire+quick shots is up) you will want to 1:1 or even 2:1 (skipping every other auto as the gcd allows).
If I understand French correctly, you Steady and then go right into Arcane or Multi, which might hold up the next Autoshot a little bit? Rather than Steady - Auto - Arcane - Auto - Multi - Auto - Steady ?
Thanks everyone. Kill Command is macro’d and goes off every time a crit happens. I have to mess with the French method. It looks like totally hasted, buffed, rapid fire, Heroism, I can do the 1:1. I’ll give the above a shot.
You are just doing heroics or raids too? If it is heroics those locks and mages might be using a ton of AOE and if it is raiding then you definitely need to be hit capped at 9%. That already stands out. And like someone pointed out you might want to be using the French rotation as opposed to that 1:1. And of course be using Kill Command as often as possible.
French rotation is the default. You should get a weak aura showing your current attack speed, and through out fights memorize what your rotation should be at certain attack speeds. If you join the hunter discord there’s a full chart that lays out the appropriate rotations that maximize your dps according to your current attack speed. The faster attack speed the better.
You are missing 2% hit. You should at 9%. You can have gear that you swap out for if ypu go over because of buffs but you need to be at 9%. Every miss is a lot of dps you are losing. You should also make sure you pet has the hit talent.
Hit is your most important stat. Rotation is important. UT not nearly as important as hit. 1:1 is a fine rotation. There are certain haste break points that you should switch to 5:5:1:1. But if you are clipping it’s better to stick with 1:1 until you can get 5:5:1:1 down.
Just get your hit up to 9% for now. Gem it if you have to.
