When I’m on hunter I should be ranged, not melee (unless I spec surv.) Melee should be the answer to deadzoning, not a BM/MM requirement.
When I’m on my Lock casting from distance, I don’t run in and dagger shank in the rotation.
It’s pretty dumb imo.
This made me imagine warlocks curse of aggony and other curses being a on next melee hit application.
From what I’ve heard aimed shot already wasnt great atm.
It wasnt, it was used in opener and if you found an opening where ither priorities wouldnt be interrupted by more than say .25-.5 seconds but it could dtill find time in the rotation now and then. But with the melee rune there will be no openings for it.

as a hunter myself, I agree.
This is nothing new or cool, its just bloated.
We needed a tankish rune to go melee with our pet CCing and taking aggro.
I will still play Hunter, but luckily I altd a rogue…
First, your title is terrible.
Second, we haven’t seen the rest of the Phase 2 kit.
Third, we have multiple phases to go still.
Melee Hunter is eventually going to become just purely melee before we hit final phase, at least that’s where it seems to be headed.
This is much like how Warlock Tanks are being funneled pretty hard towards a 0/30/21 build with an active pet, likely Succubus unless they get a Fel Guard Rune or similar. However, Warlock demons don’t really scale for anything and one of the Warlock’s biggest buffs comes from the demon and only the demon critically hitting. I’m sure it will pan out eventually, but it might not completely do so until Phase 3 or 4.

Hunters will get an expose weakness rune that increases ranged AP by 40% of your agility for 7 seconds after critting. Blizz moved Lion from the belt rune slot to the chest when people complained about horde not getting kings in phase one. This moved EW to a later phase, and presumably it will be taking the belt slot that lion once occupied.

Its a legitimate complaint about the effects the new rune very likely will have. The rune conpeting eith it would have to buff hubter ranged damage output by at least 20% to be chosen over this and causing melee weaving to get even more ridiculous.
And then that will break hunters for pvp again and get nerfed to the ground…
Even if this is what it competes with it womt be enough to make it chosen.
40% ap from agility doesnt even equal 10% more damage, let alone the 20+% it would need to compete with this melee rune.
The melee rune effectively makes every single melee weave get +100% weapon damage per weave and thats without any resets.
If we’re leaning into the crit-theme that all the Demo runes seem to have, why wouldn’t you want Ruin? Especially if you need the pet to stay alive to give Demonic Pact procs and passively grant you 10% damage.
a good news for all the hunters who don’t have the epic 2h, is around level 30 you can farm rfk all day to get crops maker which is also good for melee. And do it as soon as you are there. Because ppl hate hunters as much as gdkp, and you will get reported very soon
A rune or skill book of steady shot just got datamined on the PTR. I think ranged will be fine with expose weakness + steady shot.
Melee weave scales better than what steady shot with expose weakness will give. Melee rune effectively adds 100% melee weapon damage to every melee weave and doubles the ammount of weaving you are supposed to do.
It will litterally be R auto, R ability, M auto M ability, R auto…
Fully abusing the separate swing timers of melee and ranged.
The only way they might be able to fix this is if melee specialize rune makes melee and ranged share a swing timer.
Also with melee weaving the bis boot enchant will be move speed to boots.
