I miss going to the Renaissance Fesitival. I got into going a long time ago after I started playing D&D. The group, who were all new friends, helped me dress up by giving me a simple tunic. They took me to a Western store to buy some boots and that was it. A sword and baldric came shortly after. Love your costume! Hope you and your family had a fun time!

Thank you! And I absolutely love going every year that I can. Bought six day pass this year. I mostly like window shopping and just people watching to be honest. But the different shows, the jousting, food, itās all really great. Missed it so much last year. I really love admiring other peopleās costumes honestly, I think thatās probably my favorite part so Iām certain Iād like yours!

Jousting is certainly my favorite as Iāve always been fascinated by the āknight in shining armorā and played a few in D&D. The costumes are definitely fun to check out and even try on. We hung out at a vendor, who was really friendly, and kept trying stuff on. He would pick something out and we were happy to oblige. I also like the glass blowers and leatherworkers. Bought a pretty nice pouch to put on my belt and itās held up really well. Sadly ours here in South Florida is canceled for 2021 but they should return next year for the 30th anniversary.

Very similar, Iād say! Iāve been going to renfaire longer than Iāve been playing D&D, but going on about six years now playing 5E. And I absolutely love watching the glassblowers, their work is honestly super fascinating. I havenāt seen it yet, though thereās a show on netflix specifically about the art of glassblowing to my understanding (though as a competition).
Might catch your interest! And as for the leather, I admire a lot of the work people put into the different clothes and leather armor and what not. Most of it is definitely outside of my budget, but itās still cool to admire none the less. Most of my outfit itself is a combination of different things off of etsy / amazon. The robe and the hat I took to a seamstress to make the belt sash and the loop on the hat so I can tie it for a windy day (that hat flies off at the slightest breeze otherwise). And the mana / health potions were ordered from amazon but were clear when I bought them. I ended up staining the glass myself which I was pretty happy with how they turned out!
Hopefully youāll be able to go next year. I noticed this year a lot of people had really outstanding costumes, and a lot of the really expensive pieces that usually last at least a few weeks at the various shops sold out in the first few days. I assume that because of the past year, people have had more time to put stuff together and really go all out for what they want. Which, I think was pretty awesome.

Hey, thatās great! You certainly put effort into your costume and it shows. Itās fun when it all comes together. The mana and health potions were a good bit of whimsy. I spotted them when I first saw your picture. Neat that you were able to stain them.
I hope Iām able to go too and there will be a similar turn out for costumes. I love the amount of personal effort that goes into these sorta things and how you feel that from speaking to the vendors and creative types behind it all. Like reading the excitement in your words regarding your costume.

I feel like Rick Grimes coming out of a coma, and waking to a changed world. I wonder how different its going to be.
Ive been at work since July (came home briefly in August to close on a new house which I have yet to sleep in). But Im finally coming home on Wednesday! Planning to do some casual stuff and catch up. See if my non-family guildmates are interested in doing anything. Probably quest with my 1st grader if heās being good in school. But I know its going to be limited because we are still unpacking.
As an aside, i just got a huge promotion! Weāll see if Iām actually ready for my new responsibilities. Iāll be a 1st mate, which is the next step toward becoming a captain so hereās hoping I dont screw it up!

We really enjoyed Blown Away. Its the same winning format as Forged in Fire. It doesnt quite hook you into binge watching like History channel does though, because the commercials are an important part of that mind control (how they start the next episode before they go to commercial so you wait for the commercial to see the next part, then youre invested, so you dont sleep until the marathon is overā¦)

Iām actually planning on finishing the series this weekend. Iām pretty bad about watching most shows / movies, but Iāve really enjoyed it so why not?
As an aside, Iāve cancelled my WoW sub. Time runs out October 8th. I havenāt played in like. What feels like a month now? Nothing really wrong with the game, but finding myself enjoying spending my time with other IRL priorities. Figured Iād post here and keep an eye on this thread for the next week and a half at least ^^.

But things have been going really great for me outside of WoW. So, while I wonāt be posting on the forums any more here soon, we can look at the bright side! Iām doing really well and have been super happy! Plus, I can always come back if I get the urge to pick it up again, wouldnāt be the first time after all.

Aww man! Im sure thats a good thing. Hopefully we see you back eventually, but IRL is definitely more important. (Realistically, the expansion hasnt been able to compete with gardening and yard work so far on the enjoyability scale.)

Going on another road trip this weekend to meet up with my girlfriend, so looking forward to that. Baked a bunch of cookies last night to bring with me. Also considering getting thing 1 and thing 2 costumes for Halloween so my older brother and I can have a joint costume together!
