FD + Trap almost never works
Pets under the effect of Bestial Wrath CAN be crowd controlled.

There’s also a short delay on auto shot if you move (which wasn’t there in vanilla), and scatter/trap DR is based on a very shortlived bug in 1.12.
Can you give some examples of pet being CCed while having BW? I’m level 46 and never encountered that yet.
I know in dungeons I’ve had them stunned/knocked down, but I assume that was unavoidable.
Can finally confirm the FD/trap bug
I use a macro with /petfollow, /stopcasting and /cleartarget
But if someone is actively meleeing me, FD will not drop combat
I can use pet stun or a engi grenade to buy enough time for FD to drop, but this still puts me at a disadvantage later. For example, if I freeze trap a rogue this way and he uses sprint as he comes out, if I don’t have pet stun or grenade available then, he can sprint to re-close the distance to re-snare me with crippling before sprint fades. This is even if I turn on cheetah and do a kiting concussive shot, it won’t buy me enough room
The delay was in Vanilla. Get an add-on to track it.
Because the are using TBC mechanics for the Hunter and pets, instead of what was in Vanilla.
FD was an ability in Vanilla, but it it was changed to a spell in TBC so it could fail.
As far as pets, on Beast Master builds I can’t says much. But pet threat was changed in TBC to reduce pet aggro. Mainly people with Boar pets Charge threat was way reduced as well.
So basically most Hunter mechanics are using TBC skills, and not Vanilla skills.
So Much For #NOCHANGE
I am, there’s an extra delay if you stutter step. That’s not supposed to happen.
EDIT: You could always have FD fail against NPCs as failing against players was removed in vanilla. There’s a talent in the Survival Tree (Improved Feign Death) which reduces the chance it’ll be resisted by 2/4%. Which is +4% spell hit. This only affects NPCs, as it can’t fail against players.
It would be nice to at least get an acknowledgement of these bugs from blizz
Can confirm.
The auto shot bug where it freezes/stalls is frustrating as well.
I’ve reported them but nothing has happened so far.
There’s more cosmetic bugs, like hitting things with your quiver or standing there posing while your auto fires without the animation. Blizzard said Hunters were the hardest to recreate… and they still haven’t finished.
Yep I have seen the quiver bug as well. It’s when you have a 2hander equipped.
I’m fine with cosmetic bugs taking a while to fix… but yeah, we haven’t heard a word from Blizzard. What’s more worrying than the bugs is the intentional design change based on a short lived bug. For the entirety of vanilla (and after 1.12 which we seem to be based on) scatter/trap didn’t share a DR, but we’re really going through Classic with them sharing it because of the bug that was fixed in vanilla?
then why did improve feign death decrease the chance that it’d be resisted in vanilla?
dunno if you mean fail vs. players though; don’t think thats supposed to happen
I think what she meant was that it wasn’t supposed to be on the batch, so it couldn’t just… be delayed, which throws you back into combat which is it, “failing” but not being resisted. Happens in PvE sometimes, but often in PvP.
You or your pet cannot be engaged for them to work. Feign Death, after engagement in particular, seems to only work if player dismisses pet first (which can be done in combat), or if pet dies.
It would be cool if there were a trap launcher in Classic but it was never in Classic.
so every other class gets their cleanest version except hunter. Seems legit
Well if Blizzard is using the version of hunter at the end of 1.12, it was a terribly nerfed class, outdone in the nerf bat department perhaps by only the Paladin.
I’m not sure what you’re suggesting. You just had to macro to have your pet stop attacking on Feign Death and it worked 100% of the time. It’s a toss up in PvE and PvP right now.
Basically.
Um… is anyone using Scatter Shot to pre-empt FD --> Freeze? I remember trying to land a trap in melee without SS was a 50/50 proposition at best.
