There are hunter bots everywhere in almost every zone. They farm mobs 5+ levels lower than them for hours on end only going to a town to vendor/mail off their goods.
It is painfully obvious and they will wreak havoc on the server economy if not stopped ASAP.
The “ban in waves” approach will not be an effective solution to this problem.

Exactly where are these bots? Maybe they are all on Defies, but in all my leveling, I haven’t seen many people that show an obvious sign of being a bot, Skull Rock does have a lower population, but the only likely bot I have seen was in the starter zone, and it didn’t survive long.
Honestly, not sure how bots will really impact the economy much, don’t give into the paranoia, and don’t buy gold and become part of the problem. Reality is you don’t need to buy anything to level without problems in HC, and there are so many people that most stuff, is relatively cheap on the Ah, even if your having terrible luck and need something like a weapon upgrade.

That’s pretty much my routine on my hunter. Not a bot yet as far as I know.

I do this.
I’m a cyborg though, not a bot.
It’s a nice, safe way to level and make a little gold when I’m not able to give my full attention to the game.
I also ignore most random whispers while I’m doing it.

Lyingted, I just wanted to say . . . that avatar . . . so rigid and judgmental. That is the exact face Blizzard ought to have when dealing with the bot problem.

People really need to see an actual bot to know what a bot is. I was accused of being a bot because I was dual-boxing. Simply leveling two toons at once is not even close to being a bot. After about a dozen deaths, I have yet to see bots in any of the low-level areas. It’s all just players doing their thing and usually helping each other out.
Yup, lots of clueless people around like OP. I’m in the process of leveling two warlocks up to 20 on alt accounts for summoning purposes and this is what I’ve been doing. I’ll just sit in westfall killing neutral crabs while watching something on my main monitor since it’s pretty safe and easy to mostly AFK. Just hit one button (pet attack wand macro) on main account and hit one button (assist main account pet attack wand macro) on alt account and repeat a lot of times.

I pretty much do this. It’s safer and more profitable than trusting these Gnomer groups.

This is the exact reason why Blizzard added the layering system to HC Classic, that way you cannot see the bots and report them. No layering, and with the old report system intact, we wouldn’t have such a big bot problem.
I bet they even give them their own layer. That way we can’t see the bots using those pesky space lasers …

Same on mine, except not lower level mobs. Once you get to where quests take you on a world tour, is much more productive to grind (more profitable as well).

one time in westfall I saw a dwarf hunter just running against a fence post for 15+ minutes
I guess it could have been an AFKer though

Bots absolutely exist. And judging from this, they’re fairly decent.
yea i’ve been adding these hunter bots to my character friend list to track their activity, progress, on/offline. They mainly keep to the neutral mob zones or mixed neutral/aggro mob zones a few levels under them like you said. People here are either acting in bad faith or have conflict of interest. Nobody is talking about multiboxing. These are bots following a very point A to point B movement patterns in specific zones nightsong woods, westfall crabs, ashenvale, and MANY more. I’ve watched them and they have generally whacky names with no meaning or are in some sort Chinese style name/pet name. I’ve come across a good 6 of them in 2 days and 4 of those 6 are still online while i assume the other 2 in the more populated areas like westfall crabs got mass report banned. Again, this is observed very linear and scripted botting behavior and the timing between executing each action after killing, looting, skinning, moving is the exact same with no variation and no noise indicating it is being controlled by a human.

I have not seen anything suspicious, and definitely not anything that disrupts my gameplay. No idea where you are seeing all these “bots” or how you could even confirm that they are one.

Report them. The bots I reported gave me an in-game mail saying action has been taken to the reports I made. Within 1 week. Reporting works.
Go to the south/west coast of Westfall. You’ll see these hunter bots killing crabs.
