Yes, but only people in blues with 1200 achievement points are found to be riding them.

Took me probably around 800 some on island expeditions to finally get a mount, maybe even more than that.

While I have 2, I agree the rng for the IE mounts is terrible and do hope the chests have an increased drop rate.

I originally went into expeditions with gusto, mostly because there was a KAKAPO PET omg.
But the limited weekly rotations and sparsity of fun drops really burned me out quick. I hope RNG is greatly improved, because something tells me IEs are going to be dropped hard once the expansion hits.

Tried to get those “hey here’s a lore update thing” drops that happen when you get rewarded at the end. Thaaaaaaaaaaaat is some crazy stupid rng
I just got my first Island mount a month ago, one of my least favourite too (The MoP collector recolour.)
Looking forward to them adding the crates on the vendor.

PTR chests have approx 1/8 drop chance. I’ve opened 100s of boxes on the PTR, but anything can happen/change on live.
So what your saying is they’ll be nerfed on live?
But seriously i’ve done an untold amount of these bloody things across several characters and most of the time i just get those stupid quest items or pets i already have, at one stage i thought the mounts weren’t even on those loot tables to begin with both before and after they changed it until i saw someone riding that parrot one, still dont think anyone in my guild has a mount from there yet and we’re what a week into the final content patch now?.

I was getting 2/10 earlier in the PTR. Whether that rate happens going live I don’t know.
You need atleast thousands of islands done to think about mounts if lucky you might get one each 500. And that’s also hoping you only farm islands that can drop mounts. The bags in 8.3 are interesting, but they cost tons and well I’m pretty sure a mythic island can get about the same droprate, which makes them not worth that mugh.
I did about 300, a mount dropped, and I haven’t done a single one since. That was like 10 months ago.
I’ve lost count of how many I’ve done and have 1 mount to show for it. At this point, I don’t even think about the mounts anymore. I just get my weekly treasure map and forget about them till next week.
I have only one mount from out of the hundreds of times I’ve jumped in Islands Expeditions. I still do them weekly for an easy 2k gold with chances of mogs to throw on the ah plus whatever the mission table gives me. Mount drops seem like a myth to me at this point.
If the drop rates on PTR go live they’ll be significantly more common in the chests than from mythic islands themselves.
I haven’t done one island this whole expansion.
