A person makes one quote and this forum drags it to death.
The meme isn’t new, Star Trek in particular runs heavily on it. As does a lot of fantasy, Human heroes exist in worlds that have species that are stronger, more intelligent, more durable, and more long lived… but thematically they still shine out… because the Human is our insert into these stories and these stories are for us.
Humans in WoW do not represent “us,” as a whole. Neither do humans in many other franchises. In fact many of the aliens use non-western cultures, or even dead cultures like the romans, as their basis. Commander Shepard from Mass Effect is American.
Stormwind is basically the American Disneyland version of a European kingdom. Kul Tiras and Gilneas are parts of the British isles. All of the human cultures used for humans are european derived.
But Dwarves (both!) are also in a good place, I haven’t done a lot of high end play in DF but as far as I’m aware the Alliance races aren’t hurting for top tier racials.
One of the things I absolutely love about playing one.
Maybe my next mage will be Vulpera, portals, heartstones, and camps!
I also collect teleportation rings and toys which are all manged by the Tome of Teleportation addon which should be quite handy the next time I want to sacrifice a squirrel to portal to the Black Temple.
