To keep Humans from being the only or first character played in War Within, the Diplomacy bonus racial feature is being removed.
It’s being removed because your Warband is essentially getting something similar for free and humans double dipping would have been unfair.
It was a good call in my book
If only humans not being special carried over into the story. I’m not sure Blizzard would want to deal with all the angry Male Human Paladins if that happened though.
Like I said, if it was left in… Human characters would become the new mains. Even though I’ve mained a Human once…I also approve of this change. In fact I approve of Warbands entirely although Lost Ark might call to get their group screen back.
Long overdue. I think it made sense lore wise, because Humans tend to be out there, mixing it up with everyone. But it was a bit over powered, especially with Rep and Renown being tied to everything.
I used to have a fair bit of Human Alts but 3 of them are Mechagnomes now. I just love the Mechagnome racials. An emergency heal that you don’t have to push, a main stat boost, a hype squad, and that lock pick finger.
I still have my Human Paladin…but if we get Alliance High Elves or if Void Elves get to be Paladins, I will likely race change or just make a new one and ignore the Human.
My mom said I was special
They need something to compensate.
Again and again it’s mentioned how Stormwind is the glue keeping the multi-racial Alliance together. Humans are born diplomats. This needs to be reflected in-game.
even if it doesn´t make so much sense in the first place? I mean…individuums can be diplomatic, but entire races? Seems strange
The “Human” playable race is not the entire Human race. It’s just an individual kingdom.
Kul Tiras is not diplomatic. Gilneas is not diplomatic. Alterac is most certainly not diplomatic.
Stormwind is. The Humans of Stormwind (playable race) are the glue keeping the Alliance together, this was reflected in-game with the “Diplomat” passive effect. There was even an old artwork of a Human keeping the peace between bickering Dwarf and Night Elf.
The Game needs to reflect Stormwind’s vital position as the glue that is keeping the vast, multi-racial Alliance together.
It is a characteristic of the human race playable in the game, the ease with diplomacy.
From the official WoW website:
Stormwind’s willingness to work with others to find diplomatic solutions stands out as one of its true strengths.

.
It’s weird that people in this subforum hyper-fixate on the gameplay side of that passive, instead of the nice lore callback to Stormwind’s unique position in the Alliance.
I certainly want an alternative to highlight Stormwind’s diplomatic presence in the Alliance.
I hope they at least don’t change the name of the skill.
Hey, I mentioned it made sense lore wise, but was just a tad bit over powered the way Rep is tied to everything in the end game.
How about cheaper vendor prices/repairs in Alliance flagged zones? I would be fine with that.
Literally the third time in history a Human racial was removed.
This game has turned into so much padding they are not even trying to hide it.
They’re bound to get a new racial in its place. No idea what its gonna be though.
Basically just makes it the Alliance-equivalent of Goblin’s Best Deals Anywhere racial. Which, I’d be fine with. Makes sense that Humans would use diplomacy to get the best deal while Goblins are out wheeling and dealing.
My Fire Mage and Paladin are still special to me and will remain so even with that bonus gone, even if it’s not replaced with anything.
This is very old news. This is also a gameplay topic that belongs in the General Discussion forum, as you’re fond of saying.
This forum is fond of bellyaching about how Humans are considered “special” so it seemed relevant.
There’s a reason Human Potential has been a meme for years now
