Huge nerf to solo/outdoor gear progression in DF Season 1

They literally want content where they can tag something and let others kill it for them.

Yes, would be nice if they just came out and said it, we can all read between the lines, trying to pretend this isn’t what they want is tiring at this point.

I haven’t gottten a dopamine rush since everquest TOV raiding. Same thing with shooters. I used to shake and choke … it fades with time.

Time to quit then. Steam is filled with titles, probably something there you’ll enjoy.

I’m not a dopamine junky with gambling addiction. I play to have a few beers and hang with friends.

What’s so wild to me is that we’ve TRIED this before. There have been games like this in the past, where scarcity doesn’t exist, where you can spawn in the best gear and abilities instantly.

And they were hated, because players don’t want frictionless experiences.

I have enough friction in my real life and don’t come to WoW looking for a virtual version of it.

World content is relaxing because you can do it alone or with friends, you can do it at any time of the day without having made arrangements beforehand, and you can stop if something comes up.

By the way, Netflix certainly has a lot more subscribers than WoW does. There aren’t a lot of people around the world who are interested in the challenging and stressful “entertainment” that WoW devs are trying to force gamers into.

The world is not black and white. You can have many beers and hang with friends while also getting dopamine and enjoy running group-instanced content.

So you search for friction and feed into it on the forums?

You can do both. Accelerate the ramping into normal raid level gear, put the focus on heroic raiding, and mythic stays untouched.

Friction is fun. If you don’t like friction, go load up modded skyrim with everything in the game in your inventory. Let’s see how long you play that for.

I have yet to meet a single person that doesn’t get bored of playing DOOM with IDDQD after like 2 levels.

Even BC was more fun.

Wow devs should make the game they want to make. They clearly have a vision that’s focused on using organized groups to overcome difficult challenges that are the most rewarding. They should make the best version of whatever their vision is. That may mean less people play (myself included as I’m at the low end of the group), but it’ll be a better product for the ones that do.

Put another way, it’s okay for chipotle not to sell :hamburger: and :pizza:. They’re still very successful.

You could literally get a full set of normal gear, save for 259 gear, in season 3 by doing ONLY outdoor world content. How much more of a ramp do you need?

So when the rare kicks your butt, /1 won’t respond for your cries for help, and you just have to walk away, you’re happy and it was a relaxing experience ?

Games have friction in them. That’s what games are. Even Solitaire, the most relaxing of games, has friction, you can’t just toss all the cards in the middle and declare victory.

They are going to make whatever gives the shareholders the best return. There are plenty of devs who have come out and said they weren’t allowed to do anything and hated it.

Then all of these discussions are pointless to begin with. Why even have them if their hands are tied?
