Ew… gross.
Loot box simulator.
Link please.
that happened once. stop pretending it’s a common thing
did they? are you sure? do you have a link?
My WoW itch gets scratched faster and faster each time I resub. There just aren’t many engaging things to do at this point so I catch up on content and that’s it.
Nah, most of us probably aren’t in school anymore, but we have kids who are. My kiddo goes back to school in 2 weeks. So we are spending as much time outside as we can.
Blizzard made an exodia squad and made it to where certqin classes are unplayable
Its not a surprise that numbers have dropped and they cant seem to fix it
WoW seeing reduced population at the end if a raid tier has been happening for 15 years. This same thread will be made next tier.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is out, you can’t expect me to play WoW between raid nights.
I wish that were true but the last time I ever was part of a serious beta was WoD. They had theory crafters create spreadsheets that mapped out why certain design decisions were bad.
They ignored it all. They even wiped the beta forum during beta so that no one could go back and see. Then the imps flying fiasco and the industry record for the most subs lost in a short period of time, like 6 million, that record still stands.
Then when the imp got promoted for helping lose 6 million subs, I just gave up and knew the wow I loved was dead.
They still call it wow but it is not the same game.
It definitely isn’t a true mmorpg anymore, that is for sure.
Wow wasn’t the same when cataclysm hit. Only RPG element left was having to level up. That was it.
I am just a rebel. I play retail wow exactly How I used to. I still get knocked off my mount when I hit deep water. I don’t fly all day every day. I still go to my class trainer from time to time. I take forever to level up. And Everything I purchase with in game currency without any outside endeavors.
The game just doesn’t make sense if you aren’t going to play the game.
Content lull combined with Baldur’s Gate 3 being released.
There isn’t much left for me to chase in Retail at the moment and BG3 is one of, if not The, greatest games ever released.

Scratching that fantasy itch a lot better than WoW right now.
Theres no one to look up to or hate. Atleast we had sylvanas or Sargeras. What do we have now? ….
Bg3 is bomb too.
Not really. Throughout Vanilla and the first 3 expansions, WoW continued to grow even past the initial launch hype. Cata was the first expansion whether we saw subs sharply drop soon after launch.
When you are starting off at a lower point, the dip isn’t going to seem as sharp. So although DF’s low points seem good compared to its high points, DF’s low points may actually be lower than SL’s low points.
Interesting Reddit thread on this. Thread full of people talking about how no one plays anymore, although explanations like BG3 are provided, which an uncharitable person might call excuses instead.
Blizzard have started disappearing Forum threads questioning the state of retail WoW, which I know because it has happened to threads written by me.
Blizzard never did this during Shadowlands even when the forums where non-stop moaning. Never happened during BFA which enjoyed lots of criticism too. So it is an interesting development.
I think Activison-Blizzard is desperate to make a buck.
They’ve announced a MW3 beta and a new season for D4 already.
Blizzard used to stand more behind making games they like to play.
Sub count is just a snapshot of the net counts at a point in time.
If during a quarter in TBC 3 million people quit but 5 million joined that is a net 2 million sub gain for the report.
That isn’t going to sustain forever for any game/media.
In MoP they announced over 100 million people tried WoW but at most had 12 million concurrent subs. What happened to the other 88 million?
They also used to be kind of gamey with sub count with their Asia market (always their largest market until maybe this past January when their agreement with them died) with counting buying some game time hours as a sub.
is it really happening is the game really dying
No.
And for my part, I’m just taking a brain break while waiting for Classic HC servers and next major retail patch.
LotRO has the Farmer’s Faire going on right now, and I’ve gotten into playing Guild Wars Legacy with a friend while I was suffering covid brain fog.
My guild is mostly the same, and we do this often. Sometimes a brief break from WoW is good for you!
Login on alt, check for available mythic first 3 raid for an hour. Log off.
Also, some great new games for me to play.
The same player base is now spread across three or four different versions of the game resulting in retail feeling the most empty it has ever been.
That in conjunction with normal player declines makes it feel even worse.
The game is just too grim right now. Everything I try to do gives me flight stones, but I’ve been capped on flight stones since the first 10 minutes of the patch and I don’t know what to do with them. My bag is jam packed full of crests that I don’t know what to do with. All my items want me to have some other kind of crest that isn’t the type I have thousands of and I don’t know how to get that crest. I have literally like 40 stacks of random crests that do nothing. It’s just depressing and enraging to play.
