HUD UI thoughts?

What are your current thoughts about the Dragonflight base HUD UI (albeit currently is still being worked on and it might be throughout the expansion)?

It’s going to take some getting used to, but I have mostly positive things to say

If they let us expand customization on unit frames and the mouse over cast I think it’s really solid and I’d drop Elvui and Clique.

Clique especially given it enables me to double keybind.

Mostly positive but I want the chat windows to resize and scale better.

It’s a good start, but unless they make it so you can move the menu bar, bag bar, and XP bar I’ll need to keep using MoveAnything anyway :frowning:

Currently deal-breaker dislike for me. I see what they’re trying for, I tried to like it, but I do not. The negatives for me outweigh the positives.

I’ll be looking for an addon for the first time to change the UI:

Action bars take up too much real-estate. Yes, you can make them smaller, but they’re stacked on top of each other. I much prefer the long double (left/right) bars we have now which you don’t seem to be able to recreate.

  • Chat window which can currently be resized now cannot be.

  • Minimap can’t be resized.

  • Up/down arrows on action bar almost invisible with those skinny arrows.

  • Mail icon too small. Tracking icon too small, can’t be resized.

  • Char/talent/dungeonfinder icons are far too small, can’t be resized.

Not a fan of the ā€˜new’ simpler, tablet-friendly graphics either.

It has the potential of giving one a clean interface, but in typical Blizzard fashion, they went about it half-way and took and took a left turn to somewhere else.

Might want to look here:

I’ll stick with add-ons

Put in a cut and paste function too.

ā€œWe have elvui at homeā€¦ā€

It’s a solid ok. I think if they continue to expand on it, that would be for the best. If they launch and then forget like they do with MANY features they add, then it’s a failure.

At the minimum, I feel comfortable leaving ElvUI behind.

Raid frames needs to display resources and a way to scale HP and resources bar height.

I also wish they would have a red overlay on the icons when you are out of range. I ā€˜think’ I can just get OmiCC and it’ll do that? It’s been awhile…but it seems like something so basic and such a good QoL that it should be a thing already. I’m not sure why it is still a red overlay on the #.

It looks good. Probably still going to be using Elvui though. For new players though that aren’t stuck in their ways (like me) it’s a huge improvement.

I was actually about to make a thread about this, and I dont know if I should but I have downloaded the PTR and the biggest and most glaring issue is you can’t resize half the items like the mini map on the UI. Unlike FF14 where you can resize everything on the UI WoW will only allow you to resize some things. The mini map and quest tracker is huge and takes up a lot of space.

If you guys think i should make my own thread for Blizzard to see let me know!

I love it…but…I’m sorry guys, there’s always a but…

It’s missing one key UI panel I’ve always wanted to see…

I want like, an ā€œAdventureā€ panel, a really nice and awesome way to track zone completion, mounts obtained, pets captured (and remaining), farming nodes discovered, quests completed, etc etc.

Just like a really cool completionist UI panel that helps me track my adventures all in one place.

This is what’s missing, for me.

yeah, that janky thing called a UI? ok.

Department of Housing and Urban Development?

Does that mean we get player housing?

Negative Swarf incoming…

Blizz has allocated – wasted – a lot of resources for DF on things I personally don’t care about.

UI mod options?
I’ve been customizing my own UI for many years and will continue to.

Talent tree revamp?
Couldn’t care less. I’m very content with the current talent system. We don’t need another elaborate ā€˜illusion of choice.’

Dracthyr?
These things are so stupid looking and ridiculous it’s unreal. Definitely couldn’t care less about them.

:weary:

I’ll still be using addons because I’m used to them. Feels like a waste of resources but I guess it will be nice for those that use it.
